About The Position

The Strategic Buyer(Indirect) is responsible for purchase order execution, supplier communication, and transactional support within a specific commodity. This role ensures material availability while aligning day-to-day supplier management with the broader commodity strategy. The Buyer supports the Commodity Manager in driving supplier performance, cost reduction, and risk mitigation.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in supply chain, Business, or related field.
• 2-5 years of procurement experience (aerospace & defense, manufacturing required).
• Strong ERP/MRP system skills.
• Negotiation and supplier communication experience.
• Understanding of commodity cost drivers and supply base dynamics.
• Excellent communication and relationship skills.

Nice To Haves

• Familiarity with aerospace quality standards (AS9100, NADCAP) a plus.

Responsibilities

• Supplier Performance Management
• Provide input on supplier scorecards and corrective action follow up.
• Escalate risks and shortages promptly to Commodity Manager.
• Partner with Commodity Manager to monitor supplier delivery, quality, and cost performance.
• Operational Execution
• Place and manage purchase orders for assigned commodity suppliers.
• Maintain ERP data integrity (lead times, pricing, order quantities).
• Work with suppliers to confirm orders, track deliveries, and resolve discrepancies.
• Support RFQ’s, supplier selection support, cost analysis, simple contract negotiation.
• Support ERP/materials planning processes by maintaining accurate lead times, pricing, and supplier master data.
