About The Position

The Strain Engineering Scientist at Cemvita will focus on yeast metabolic engineering, particularly with non-conventional yeasts, to develop sustainable biotechnologies. This role is crucial for advancing the company's mission of carbon utilization to produce sustainable industrial products, including sustainable aviation fuel and specialty chemicals.

Requirements

• PhD or Master's degree with industry experience in molecular biology, metabolic engineering, or synthetic biology.
• 3-5+ years of laboratory experience in a strain engineering role or closely related field.
• Expertise in advanced molecular biology techniques such as genome editing (CRISPR-Cas, TALENs), Gibson assembly, yeast transformation, and manipulation.
• Experience in high-throughput screening and assay development.
• Proficient in analyzing complex datasets using statistical analysis software (e.g., R, Python) and data visualization tools.

Nice To Haves

• Experience with next-generation sequencing (NGS) data analysis.
• Familiarity with bioinformatics and bioinformatics tools.

Responsibilities

• Utilize extensive experience to engineer metabolic pathways in both conventional and non-conventional yeast strains.
• Design, construct, and evaluate yeast strains using a 96-well format to optimize pathways for sustainable product production.
• Assemble and optimize biochemical pathways to enhance strain productivity and efficiency.
