Responsible for the safe operation of storeroom to ensure that material, supplies and equipment needs of distribution and transmission are met. The following sets forth the principal job duties which are normally to be performed. It is not intended to limit the assignment of work or set the degree of supervision under all conditions. An employee may perform miscellaneous, related and incidental work in addition to that outlined below. Stores Equipment Operator: What You'll Do: Operate tractor-trailer equipment, including pole-truck, lowboy, crane, and other Company vehicles as required. Perform minor maintenance on tractor-trailers or trucks, and report needed repairs. Operate material handling equipment, such as hand trucks, forklift trucks, low lift trucks, hoists, overhead cranes, order pickers, power sweepers, or any other equipment, as required. Direct and help load, unload and rig materials, equipment, and poles. Pick up and deliver materials, equipment, and poles. Maintain logs and other records associated with the operation of trucks, tractor-trailers and equipment, as required by the Company and government authorities. Operates computer software supporting a material management system and other office equipment, such as calculators, as required. Perform duties in accordance with Company's safety rules, operating regulations and practices, and report unsafe conditions and practices. Perform work in the storeroom, such as receiving, checking, storing, and issuing material, under proper authorization and load and unload hazardous material, such as gasoline, oil, oil containing PCB, and lead-acid batteries, following required safety procedures. Maintain efficient storage of materials; rearrange or change bins and racks; move and arrange materials, as required. Conduct the sale of scrap; weigh and load scrap authorized for sale. Assist in the training of other employees and direct the work of others assigned to assist. Assist employees of equal or higher classification. Maintain equipment, tools, and work areas in a clean and orderly condition. Report irregularities and abnormal conditions. Perform other duties, as assigned. What We're Looking For: Education requirements are listed below: High school diploma/GED. Other Requirements: This a combination of a Stores Equipment Operator position from years ago, a Stores Truck Driver and a Stores Attendant. Must thoroughly understand and have sufficient experience to be able to efficiently and safely operate truck, tractor-trailer, crane and associated equipment. Must have a working knowledge of the methods for handling and loading heavy equipment. Must know the standard methods of lifting, rigging, blocking and skidding heavy equipment. Must be familiar with the laws, regulations, operation and maintenance requirements of tractor-trailer and trucking equipment. Must be able to pass written and driving tests pertaining to DOT regulations. Must pass DOT physical examinations, as required for truck drivers. Must have and maintain a valid state license for operating tractor-trailer equipment. Must have and maintain a Class A Commercial Driver's License. Must successfully complete the AEP Lifting and Rigging training program. Must obtain and maintain (within 6 months) a Crane Certification depending on location. Must live within 45 minutes of reporting location Must successfully complete the Physical Demand Standard & Physical Ability test for Stores positions. Ability to lift 70 pounds
