About The Position

This is routine manual and office support work in stores operations. An employee in this class is responsible for assisting a storekeeper by performing a variety of office support and manual tasks in a stores operation. Duties include receiving, separating, costing, storing, repairing, and daily handling of inventory items. Assists in maintaining an electronic perpetual inventory system. Works under general supervision with some opportunity for the use of independent judgment.

Requirements

  • Graduation from an accredited high school or GED.
  • A minimum of one year of paid experience in responsible clerical support work, general laboring or an equivalent combination of related training and paid experience.
  • Possession of a valid State of Ohio driver's license.

Responsibilities

  • Assists in the requisitioning of stores items and equipment.
  • Receives, issues, inspects, picks up, delivers, and stores a wide variety of supplies and materials.
  • Manually lifts, transports by hand, cart or forklift and stacks items of inventory.
  • Loads and unloads equipment and/or goods to be transported.
  • Inspects shared tools and equipment for damage before issue and after return to the storeroom.
  • Arranges for repairs to damaged storeroom tools and equipment as needed.
  • Makes minor repairs to equipment and tools such as shovels, hammers, rubber hose, and floodlights.
  • Separates or alters items of inventory such as the cutting of steel chain with a bolt cutter.
  • Keeps manual and electronic inventory records up-to-date via data entry of materials received and withdrawn.
  • Verifies costs and transactions, and interprets various inventory reports and other related tasks.
  • Identifies and counts items for physical inventory, reconciling discrepancies with manual or computerized records.
  • Picks up inventory items at local businesses and delivers items for repair or replenishing.
  • Prepares returnable goods for shipment.
  • Assists in taking yearly inventory and regularly assists in checking inventory levels and the condition of out-of-date or perishable items.
  • May print and tag items with barcode labels for inventory tracking.
  • Answers incoming calls and responds to emails and other correspondence.
  • Applies department safety principles and practices.
  • Performs related work as required.
