About The Position

The Stores Clerk position is responsible for receiving, unpacking, storing, and tracking parts and/or materials received in the Storeroom for use within the plant as consumables or as spare parts to maintain plant and production equipment. Maintain records of all items entering or leaving the Stores and report any damaged items received. Prepare shipping documents for the dispatch of parts for repair through the Purchasing Department and Warehouse Shipping/Receiving Department. Organize the Stores layout to allow easy access to all stock items. Mark all items received into stock with a stock code number and Stores location code. Maintain these records within the MP2 electronic Stores inventory system for accurate and efficient retrieval when required. Maintain the system through accurate receiving and issuing records for inventory control purposes. Raise documentation for adding or removing stores stock items with approval from the Maintenance Manager. The Stores Clerk is responsible for ensuring the annual stock take is completed accurately and to the satisfaction of the maintenance supervisor and Maintenance Manager. This position works directly with a wide variety of collaborators across multiple departments and locations.

Requirements

  • Basic knowledge of the use and application of metals and plastics for engineering applications.
  • Ability to identify common Stores stock items such as flat and vee belts, bearings, sprockets, gears, pulleys, shafts, universal joints, gearboxes, clutches, cams, idlers, tensioners, chains, air cylinders, and air-actuated valves.
  • Proper storage, handling, and transportation of hazardous liquids, lubricants, and materials. Knowledge of U.S. standard and metric units of measure.
  • Working knowledge of safe material handling practices.
  • General knowledge of engineering materials.
  • Working knowledge of OSHA requirements for machine guarding and related maintenance topics.
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
  • Effective communication and teamwork abilities.
  • Ability to work independently in a fast-paced, high-volume environment.
  • Be able to demonstrate the safe use of basic hand tools.

Responsibilities

  • Apply company safety and JSHA procedures in all day-to-day Stores activities.
  • Maintain required Material Safety Data Sheets for all items that pass through the Stores. Ensure copies are forwarded to the QA Department upon receipt.
  • Maintain the Stores area in a clean, organized, and uncluttered condition.
  • Prepare accurate purchase requisition documentation for Stores consumables and parts and obtain required management approvals prior to submission to Purchasing.
  • Effectively control inventory levels of parts and materials supporting the Stores, Machine Shop, PM Planning, machine rebuilds, and production equipment maintenance.
  • Utilize the MP2 Stores Inventory System and its various functions to support Stores inventory control activities (training provided as needed).
  • Provide Stores parts and vendor information support to maintenance, production, and engineering personnel using the MP2 Stores Inventory System.
  • Keep the maintenance Supervisor informed of all matters affecting daily Stores operations.
  • Implement all company standard operating procedures and work instructions while performing assigned duties.
  • Maintain accurate Stores-related records daily to allow effective monitoring of all stock movement in and out of the Stores area.
  • Communicate effectively with employees at all levels regarding Stores-related matters.
  • Maintain regular attendance and punctuality for all scheduled work shifts.
