About The Position

Assist the Material Services organization by performing duties related to material accountability, operation of the storeroom and storage yards.

Requirements

  • Candidate must reside with 30 miles of the Hornbeck Service Center
  • High school graduate or equivalent education and/or experience.
  • Must have satisfactorily performed the duties of the Company position Stores Attendant A for a minimum of 12 months
  • Must meet all vehicle operation requirements as designated by federal and/or state law. In addition, the incumbent may be required to obtain a Commercial Driver's License (CDL)
  • Must have satisfactorily performed the duties of the Company position Stores Attendant A for a minimum of 12 months.
  • Must have a thorough working knowledge of all Material Management practices and procedures as they apply to regular job responsibilities and must qualify through passing job demonstrations and a written examination.
  • Must have demonstrated ability to keep neat, concise and accurate records.
  • Must be able to operate stores material handling equipment and road vehicles.
  • Must be able to safely lift and handle materials and equipment weighing up to 70 pounds.
  • A minimum of one year work experience in inventory control and management, material handling, warehousing, or related experience is required.
  • Must possess basic computer skills to use inventory management software such as Maximo; Microsoft Excel and Word experience is also preferred.
  • Must have sufficient knowledge and skills to perform the duties and/or responsibilities listed above and also have the physical capabilities to perform the required work.
  • Must possess a strong working knowledge of logistics related to shipping and relocating inventory.
  • Must understand and perform basic math functions.
  • Must be able to work independently and possess good communication skills.
  • Must be able to safely lift up to 70 pounds; successful completion of the Physical Ability Test (PAT) is required.
  • Must possess the appropriate State drive license.
  • If a Commercial Drive License (CDL) is required, the incumbent must obtain the CDL within six months of entry into this job classification or vacate the current job classification.
  • Must be able to operate material handling equipment including motorized forklifts and road vehicles.

Responsibilities

  • Issue material under proper authorization; process and file required records.
  • Check received material for quantity; make visual inspection for identity, breakage, and condition; initiate and process material receipt and related records.
  • Identify, sort and record material returned; place usable material in stock, and sort non-usable material into scrap containers; record applicable information, and process related records.
  • Determine material requirements, and order replenishment stock, complete related records.
  • Operate computer terminals and printers supporting a material management system, and other office equipment such as calculators.
  • Prepare and pack material for shipment or storage, including preparation of required shipping papers and other related records.
  • Maintain all material services related to files and records.
  • Conduct sales of scrap or other materials as authorized; initiate, process and file all related records.
  • Establish and maintain adequate inventory levels based on current requirements.
  • Control and coordinate the processing of purchase requisitions.
  • Conduct inventory counts, clear discrepancies with appropriate approval, and process all associated records.
  • Ship and/or receive hazardous material, such as gasoline, oil, oil containing PCB, and lead-acid batteries, under required safety and environmental procedures.
  • Coordinate material services efforts with other department personnel to maintain an efficient overall operation.
  • Pick up, haul, and deliver materials
  • Maintain efficient storage of material.
  • Operate material handling equipment such as hand trucks, forklift trucks, low lift trucks, hoists, overhead cranes, order pickers, or any other equipment as required.
  • Operate Company automotive equipment such as cars and trucks.
  • Maintain clean and orderly work areas and equipment.
  • Report irregularities and abnormal conditions.
  • Perform duties in accordance with Company safety rules, operating regulations, and practices.
  • Assist in the training of other employees
  • Direct the work of employees assigned to assist.
  • Assist employees of all classifications.
