About The Position

The Stores Attendant B-A position involves assisting the Material Services organization with material accountability, operation of the storeroom, and storage yards. This entry-level role includes various duties that will be performed under direct and/or semi-direct supervision, allowing individuals to progress from assisting to performing tasks independently as they gain job knowledge. Responsibilities include issuing materials, checking received materials, reporting irregularities, operating computer terminals, preparing materials for shipment, and maintaining inventory levels. The role also requires adherence to safety rules and regulations.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • A minimum of one year work experience in inventory control and management, material handling, warehousing, or related experience.
  • Basic computer skills to use inventory management software such as Maximo; Microsoft Excel and Word experience preferred.
  • Knowledge of logistics related to shipping and relocating inventory.
  • Ability to perform basic math functions.
  • Ability to work independently and possess good communication skills.
  • Ability to safely lift up to 70 pounds; successful completion of the Physical Ability Test (PAT) is required.
  • Possession of the appropriate State driver's license.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience operating material handling equipment including motorized forklifts and road vehicles.
  • Demonstrated ability to keep neat, concise, and accurate records.

Responsibilities

  • Issue material under proper authorization and process required records.
  • Check received material for quantity and inspect for identity, breakage, and condition.
  • Report irregularities and abnormal conditions.
  • Identify, sort, and record material returned; place usable material in stock and sort non-usable material into scrap containers.
  • Operate computer terminals and printers supporting a materials management system.
  • Prepare and pack material for shipment or storage, including preparation of required shipping papers.
  • Operate material handling equipment such as hand trucks, forklift trucks, and overhead cranes.
  • Assist supervisor with maintaining efficient storage of materials and making material location changes.
  • Assist in maintaining adequate inventory levels through inventory cycle counts.
  • Perform duties in accordance with Company safety rules and operating regulations.
