About The Position

The Stores Attendant position at American Electric Power (AEP) involves assisting the Material Services organization with various stores operations. This entry-level role requires the candidate to perform duties under direct supervision, progressing to independent work as they gain experience. Responsibilities include issuing materials, checking received items, operating material handling equipment, and maintaining inventory levels.

Requirements

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Minimum of one year work experience in inventory control, material handling, or warehousing.
• Basic computer skills, including experience with inventory management software and Microsoft Excel and Word.
• Strong knowledge of logistics related to shipping and inventory relocation.
• Ability to perform basic math functions and communicate effectively.
• Physical capability to lift up to 70 pounds and pass the Physical Ability Test (PAT).
• Possession of a valid State driver's license; CDL required within six months if applicable.

Nice To Haves

• Experience with Maximo inventory management software.
• Good communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Issue material under proper authorization and process required records.
• Check received material for quantity and condition, initiating material receipt records.
• Report irregularities and abnormal conditions.
• Identify, sort, and record returned materials, placing usable items in stock and sorting non-usable items into scrap containers.
• Operate computer terminals and printers supporting a materials management system.
• Prepare and pack materials for shipment or storage, including hazardous materials under safety procedures.
• Operate material handling equipment such as hand trucks and forklifts.
• Assist in maintaining efficient storage of materials and inventory levels through cycle counts.
• Perform duties in accordance with company safety rules and regulations.
