BASIC FUNCTION Verifies and keeps accurate and detailed records on incoming shipments and prepares items for assembly as well as unloads, stores, and issues material by performing the following duties.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED)
  • Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos (i.e. safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, shop-floor paperwork, and procedure manuals).
  • Ability to write simple correspondence.
  • Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.

Responsibilities

  • Compares identifying information and counts, weighs, or measures items of incoming shipments to verify information against bills of lading, invoices, orders, or other records.
  • Accurately identify using packing slips and purchase orders to label all incoming freight.
  • Enters receipts, issues and other transactions into MAPICS.
  • Finds information (ie. Balance on hand, dock dates) about items and purchase orders
  • Enters material shortages, identified by unit pick sheets or last issues, into MAPICS shortage report.
  • Communicates closely with Buyers, Supervisors and suppliers on issues especially regarding shortages or damaged shipments and last issue conditions.
  • Accurately identify and label material allocated to released units with information
  • Ability to organize material that allows for ease of locating and minimizes potential damage as well as considers temperature, humidity, height and weight limits, turnover, loading capacities and required space.
  • Unpack and examine incoming shipments. Note any visible damage on BOL as well as take pictures and notify Quality for disposition. Record any short shipments on BOL and correspond with carrier to rectify damages and shipment discrepancies.
  • Operates fork lift truck, bridge crane or hand truck to move, convey, or hoist shipments from shipping and receiving platform to storage or work area.
  • Performs daily cycle counts of items for reorder and balance on hand accuracy as determined by Plant Controller & Materials Manager.
  • Fills orders (ie. Kanban) or issues supplies from stock and distributes stock among production workers, keeping accurate records of material issued.
  • Requisitions articles to fill incoming orders.
  • Process RMA requests.
  • Responsible for reporting work related injuries and near misses to supervision.
  • Responsible for wearing all required PPE and following applicable safety/environmental rules.
  • Responsible for correcting or reporting unsafe conditions observed within the plant.
