About The Position

Operating out of a major warehouse and a satellite warehouse, the purpose of this position is to: receive, secure, maintain accountability, stock, inventory pick, pack, stage and issue supplies/materials/equipment in support of all the Regions and Districts of ADOT throughout the State performing maintenance and construction of traffic signal systems, street lighting, signing, Intelligent Transportation Systems, other governmental agencies such as private contractors, as well as our internal Traffic Operations Section customers, involved in the manufacture/installation/repair of highway signs, and the repair, assembly, programming and testing of traffic signal control equipment, and administration.

Requirements

  • Knowledge of warehousing and distribution methods.
  • Knowledge of safe lifting and material handling methods.
  • Understanding of basic inventory control records and procedures.
  • Knowledge of Google Suite programs.
  • Skill in the operation of various material handling equipment, in the use of various inventory system software.
  • Ability to verify materials/supplies/equipment against related paperwork.
  • Ability to learn to use computers for bin labeling, and retrieving data.
  • Ability to do manual lifting of heavy items.
  • Ability to communicate effectively.
  • Valid Arizona Drivers license - This position requires driving or the use of a vehicle as an essential function of the job, and the following requirements apply. Any employee operating a motor vehicle on State business must possess and retain a current, valid class-appropriate driver’s license, complete all required training, and successfully pass all necessary driver’s license record checks. The license must be current, unexpired, and neither revoked nor suspended. Employees who drive on state business are subject to driver’s license record checks, must maintain acceptable driving records, and must complete all required driver training. An employee who operates a personally owned vehicle on state business shall maintain the statutorily required liability insurance (see Arizona Administrative Code (A.A.C.) R2-10-207.11).
  • All newly hired State employees are subject to and must successfully complete the Electronic Employment Eligibility Verification Program (E-Verify).
  • Mandatory participation in the Arizona Retirement System (ASRS) is required.

Responsibilities

  • Pick, pack and stage equipment/supplies/materials at the main warehouse as well as the satellite warehouse for our customers to pick up, notifying the customers when items/equipment/supplies/materials are ready for pickup.
  • Issuing materials to our customers from the main warehouse as well as the satellite warehouse: this includes loading trucks, using forklifts, and pallet jacks. Ensuring proper signatures are obtained for materials dispersed, maintaining accountability and security for all items stocked or transactions processed, notify management if the last of an item is issued or the stock appears to be depleted.
  • Receive equipment/supplies/materials in the main warehouse as well as the satellite warehouse: this includes unloading trucks, using pallet jacks and forklifts, driving to vendors to pick up merchandise, counting and verifying description of materials received against delivery tickets, vendor invoices, and/or purchase order paperwork, annotating discrepancies, refusing erroneous shipments.
  • Assist in maintaining the accuracy and accountability of the inventory: this includes facility opening and lock up procedures, performing regular physical counts, and investigating discrepancies to ensure complete accountability.
  • Proactively identify and report risks to inventory integrity, usability or safety while overseeing the preparation and documentation of surplus materials for disposition.
  • Perform maintenance checks on the equipment as needed, refuel or recharge forklifts, vehicles, report equipment, facilitates, and safety problems to management. Strive to maintain a reasonably clean, safe and orderly work environment. Performing other operational duties as required.
