About The Position

The Division of Developmental Disabilities is seeking to hire a Storekeeper I for the Shapiro Center located in Kankakee, Illinois to process general storehouse receiving and distribution, and maintains storage and inventory of the clothing store and print shop and United Parcel Service deliveries. Provides relief assistance in other stores. Prepares items for shipment to other points, checks quantity and quality of items in storehouse, maintains inventory and other records of stock received and issued. Ensures compliance with applicable Division of Developmental Disabilities (DD) and Shapiro policies and regulations.

Requirements

  • Requires knowledge, skill and mental development equivalent to completion of four (4) years high school.
  • Requires one (1) year experience in the keeping of stores and stores records.
  • Requires the ability to utilize office equipment, including personal computers.
  • Requires the ability to work after business hours, weekends and holidays.
  • Requires the ability to travel in the performance of job duties.
  • Requires ability to pass the IDHS background check.
  • Requires ability to pass a drug screen for drugs prohibited from recreational use under Illinois Law.

Responsibilities

  • Processes general storehouse receiving and distribution and maintains storage and inventory of the clothing store and print shop and United Parcel Services deliveries.
  • Fills orders based on requisitions and ensures that paperwork is completed.
  • Prepares items for shipment to other points, checks quantity and quality of items in storehouse, maintains inventory and other records of stock received and issued.
  • Assists other areas in proper receiving, storing and shipping of merchandise.
  • Monitors inventory levels and compares with records.
  • Monitors the efficient organization of the stores by ensuring the accurate numerical allocation of items and storage place assignment.
  • Operates material handling equipment, scales and calculators.
  • Performs other duties as required or assigned which are reasonably within the scope of the duties enumerated above.
