About The Position

While receiving leadership support from the Regional Team Leader in partnership with the Director of Retail Stores, the Store Team Leader – Resource Team advances our mission by showing responsibility for all aspects of an efficient and cost-effective donated goods retail operations. The Store Team Leader – Resource Team oversees the donation door to store floor process, ensuring proper stewardship of all donations and creating a customer-centric experience for our shoppers. This role develops short-term business strategies, oversees implementation for Goodwill's retail operations, within their assigned home store and other stores as assigned, and leads team members and participants. In partnership with their Regional Team Leader, the Store Team Leader – Resource Team is responsible for achieving system metrics while building and maintaining relationships with internal team members and outside vendors to ensure all activities are performed in a manner that is consistent with the mission, vision, values and brand of Goodwill NCW. The Store Team Leader – Resource Team Central Region must be willing to travel to Rhinelander, Antigo, Rib Mountain, Weston, Marshfield, Wisconsin Rapids, Stevens Point, Plover, Waupaca and Shawano.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in related field is preferred.
  • At least 3 years of retail management experience preferably in operational management including planning, talent development and change leadership.
  • Exceptional communication skills that promote an effective flow of information throughout the store and demonstrates candor and openness when discussing business initiatives.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage in a hands-on, physical work environment.
  • Willingness and ability to work various hours which may include holidays, evenings and weekends.
  • Willingness to travel to provide flexible support to stores understaffed and/or underperforming within a designated geographic region for short-term and long-term assignments.
  • Experience in leading, developing and empowering others in a business and/or retail setting.
  • Logical decision making and troubleshooting skills with the ability to problem solve in a timely manner.
  • Excellent time management and prioritization skills and the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously under time constraints.
  • At least an intermediate level of competency with Word, Excel, PowerPoint, SharePoint and Outlook.
  • Experience with common reporting and dashboard tools.
  • Willingness and ability to learn and understand new software and other technology applications as applicable.

Responsibilities

  • Leads talent through hiring, onboarding, training, mentoring and development of team members to create a high performing team and build bench strength in assigned store. Builds networks and identifies sources for recruitment for assigned home store and/or other store locations assigned within a specific region for short or long-term periods.
  • Guides human resource objectives and attracts and retains talent by properly recruiting, selecting, orienting, training, scheduling, coaching, counseling, rewarding, and holding team members accountable.
  • Identifies appropriate group and individual training and professional development opportunities for team members and program participants.
  • Coordinates end user systems training to ensure smooth project implementation, improved technology utilization, and enhance digital literacy.
  • Implements business strategies in partnership with the Regional Team Leader to ensure that store is meeting or exceeding their forecasted sales and production plans. Responsible for the financial and operational status in assigned store, including people, sales, staffing, payroll, store growth, expenses, mission integration, budgeting, safety, etc. as required and within timeframes.
  • Implements and sustains department standard operating procedures and standard work guides to maintain standards of store presentation, organization, facility layout and maintenance, quality control, safety standards and all company policies and procedures.
  • Effectively and efficiently manages a broad range of store activities including team member scheduling, store opening and closing procedures and prioritize or delegate duties when applicable.
  • Manages change through effective planning, communication and coaching. Creates venues for constructive dialogue and ensures information is cascaded to all levels.
  • Ensures good stewardship of all donations and transfers, through proper handling and processing of incoming donation flow.
  • Optimizes workflow and work schedules maintaining efficient usage of facility layout and labor.
  • Maintains a consistent presence throughout store, engaging and seeking feedback from team members to determine opportunities for store improvement.
  • Communicates with Regional Team Leader and Director of Stores to provide a team member feedback loop for continuous improvement and works proactively to anticipate issues and continuously improve store operations.
  • Ensures compliance with various regulatory agencies (e.g., OSHA, WI-DOT, etc.). Audits store for inspections regarding facilities and equipment to ensure they are in good working condition for the organizational image and safe working environments. Ensures sound safety and work practices are followed and that all team members work to specified safety rules and regulations.
  • Implements marketing, advertising and communication strategies and works with community members on mission awareness and advancement. Actively engages with community partners and links activities to business performance.
  • Supports Goodwill NCW’s mission through employment and training of people with different abilities.
