About The Position

Goodwill Easterseals Miami Valley is one of the largest employers in the region, with a mission to empower those with disadvantages and disabilities to improve their quality of life. We employ over 600 associates just in our retail stores alone and offer over 40 programs and services to the community. This position involves training in supervising store operations, including loading and unloading trailers, processing textiles, quality control, and sales operations in preparation for a direct supervisor role. The role also includes performing retail sales functions and pricing donated goods as needed.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED).
  • Management experience preferred but not required.
  • Ability to pass a criminal background check and random drug screens.

Responsibilities

  • Train and become proficient with assisting store manager in processing of donated goods and sales to achieve revenue budget and expense to revenue (E/R).
  • Train and become proficient in banking procedures including reconciliation of Daily Business Statements and deposit slips.
  • Assume training and supervision of employees and volunteers in procedures on an as-needed basis.
  • Provide customer service in a friendly and professional manner.
  • Work a flexible schedule to comply with the needs of the store.
  • Operate cash register ensuring proper handling of cash, checks, credit card transactions and merchandise return.
  • Follow the dress code as set by Retail and set a professional example for employees.
  • Perform housekeeping duties to maintain premises in compliance with Agency safety and housekeeping practices.
  • Perform stocking, display and inventory duties as well as merchandise ordering as assigned.
  • Inspect textiles, furniture, appliances, and other items to determine saleability.
  • Perform shipping and receiving duties such as unloading and loading trailers.
  • Test electrical appliances to determine safe operations.
  • Assist store manager with equal opportunity employment efforts.
  • Complete reports accurately as assigned.
  • Price merchandise according to prescribed criteria.
  • Prepare textiles and goods for resale.
  • Disinfect upholstered materials using Steri-Fab.
  • Maintain the ability to regularly lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
  • Perform any additional duties as assigned by Manager, Assistant or Supervisor.
  • Provide own transportation and adequate liability insurance for driving on company business.
  • Comply with all Agency policies, procedures and safety standards.
