About The Position

The Store Security Specialist has responsibility to protect company assets and improve profitability by implementing company security programs for the Arc thrift stores, employees and customers. This position reports to the Protective Services Manager/Director.

Requirements

  • 3 -5 years store security experience in a business/retail environment.
  • Experience working with a diverse workforce.
  • Possesses an interest in the retail thrift business.
  • Previous experience in a multi-site business, or a shared service center.
  • Good analytical skills.
  • Ability to gather, evaluate and compile data and prepare appropriate reports.
  • Ability to use good judgment.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment where challenging deadlines and constant change is the norm.
  • Strong planning and implementation skills.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Good listener.
  • Well-organized and self-directed.
  • Ability to establish priorities.
  • Sets a good example through professional attitude and conduct.
  • Ability to deal effectively with respect and sensitivity towards all employees.
  • Ability to work effectively with a wide range of constituencies in a diverse community.
  • Proficient in Windows based applications computing skills (i.e. MS Project, spreadsheets, databases and graphics).
  • Must be able to travel, easily between store locations.
  • Has a current security guard license or must be able to obtain one, which will include passing an FBI background check.
  • Must have a current state issued driver’s license.

Responsibilities

  • Primary responsibility for store security, employee security and retail customer support.
  • Internal focus includes cash handling, inventory control, facilities and equipment damage, security access, fraud, and variety of audits of employee activities.
  • External focus includes deterring shoplifting, vandalism, counterfeiting, robbery, burglary and store safety.
  • Collaborates with appropriate store personnel to implement the loss prevention programs.
  • Conducts loss prevention meetings in stores as needed.
  • Assists in implementing short-term and long-term goals, objectives, policies and operating procedures related to loss prevention programs.
  • Anticipates problems and recommends appropriate solutions.
  • Maintains confidentiality.
  • Supports the corporate culture by promoting a communication style of open communication, accountability, diversity and consistent treatment of all employees and customers.
  • Communicates with store personnel, LP personnel and other managers as appropriate.
  • Performs other special projects or tasks as assigned.
