About The Position

Weis Markets is seeking a Store Meat Cutter for its location at 2400 East Market Street. The role involves adhering to established department procedures for receiving, unloading, pricing, and stocking meat and seafood products, ensuring quality, protection, accuracy, and proper rotation. Key responsibilities include maintaining a safe and clean working environment in compliance with all safety, sanitation, state, federal, and OSHA regulations, as well as local, state, and government weights and measures and labeling laws. The Meat Cutter will greet and take orders from customers, and perform the core tasks of cutting, traying, and packaging all required meat and seafood products daily. This position requires strict adherence to safety practices when using cutting accessories, including the use of mesh gloves with a knife. Additionally, the associate will participate in pre-inventory preparation, which includes managing back stock and ensuring product tags match. The role may also require assisting in other departments as needed. Requirements

  • High School diploma or general education degree (GED), plus (2) years' experience in a retail environment, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Ability to perform each essential duty satisfactorily with or without an accommodation.

Responsibilities

  • Follows established department procedures for receiving and unloading incoming shipments, pricing the product and stocking cases to ensure quality, protection, accuracy and proper rotation of product in the cases and cooler.
  • Maintains a safe and clean working environment to ensure compliance with all safety and sanitation requirements as set forth by the company and mandated by state, federal and OSHA regulations.
  • Ensures compliance to local, state, and government weights and measures and labeling laws.
  • Greets and takes orders from customers.
  • Cuts, trays, and packages all of the required meat and seafood products required for the day.
  • Maintains proper safety practices and care while using all the cutting accessories available in the meat department; complies with the use of mesh gloves while using a knife.
  • Participates in pre-inventory preparation; includes back stock and assuring tags match products.
  • May be called upon to assist in other departments as needed.
