About The Position

The Manager Trainee position at Tractor Supply is designed for individuals aspiring to become Store Managers. The Manager Trainee will engage in various responsibilities, including team recruitment, sales management, inventory control, and ensuring a welcoming atmosphere for both customers and team members.

Requirements

• Retail experience and/or knowledge in farming, ranching, pet/equine, or welding is strongly preferred.
• Supervisory experience preferred.
• Must be at least 18 years of age and possess a valid driver's license.
• High school diploma required; Bachelor's degree in Agricultural-Science or Business related field preferred.

• Ability to process information and merchandise through the system and POS Register system.
• Ability to read, write, and count accurately for documentation.
• Ability to access all areas of the store including selling floor, side lot, stock area, and register area.
• Ability to operate necessary store equipment such as dolly, hand-truck, forklift, computer, and cash register.
• Ability to move and transfer merchandise weighing 0-50 lbs.
• Flexibility to work varied hours, days, nights, and weekends as business dictates.

Responsibilities

• Recruit, hire, develop, evaluate, discipline, and retain efficient team members.
• Deliver Legendary Customer Service through GURA: Greet the Customer, Uncover Customer's Needs & Wants, Recommend Product Solutions, Ask to Add Value & Appreciate the Customer.
• Create and foster a welcoming environment and sense of belonging in the Store.
• Ensure diversity, equity, and inclusion are experienced every day across Team Members, Customers, Suppliers, and Communities.
• Schedule, organize, and plan daily activities for team members to ensure efficient store operations.
• Lead team members to ensure customers have a Legendary shopping experience.
• Communicate company processes, policies, and directives to team members.
• Evaluate processes for effectiveness and coordinate with District Manager to eliminate problems.
• Create a desirable work environment through promotions, recognition, and empowerment.
• Problem solve and resolve conflicts for team members and customers.
• Learn sales and profit management, accountable for achieving top and bottom line.
• Promote a safe and productive work environment.
• Manage daily merchandise flow to ensure adequate in-stock and inventory controls.
• Organize merchandise resets to company specifications periodically.
• Implement and sustain merchandise presentation per company standards.
• Evaluate competitive environment and work with Operations and Merchandising teams.
• Train on daily, weekly, and monthly processing of required paperwork.
• Train on periodic sales forecasting, payroll analysis, and budget review.
• Train on documentation of team member evaluations and corrective action.
• Train on managing periodic price changes and communicating inventory needs to buyers.
• Learn to coordinate and conduct special sales events and assist District Manager with operational needs.
• Set the tone for and reinforce the mission and values of Tractor Supply Company.
• Learn to address team member issues and concerns, working with HR when necessary.
• Learn to assess and develop team members for advancement within the organization.
• Train to be responsible for budgeting and sales forecasting and auditing store processes.
