About The Position

The Store Manager at a Supercenter is responsible for developing and executing a strategic vision aligned with company goals, overseeing all aspects of facility operations, merchandising, and company direction. This role involves significant leadership, including supervising and developing a large team of management and hourly associates, addressing challenges like high turnover and recruiting. Key responsibilities include upholding the company's Open Door Policy, ensuring compliance with policies and procedures, and engaging in community outreach. The manager is also accountable for driving the financial performance of the facility by achieving sales and profit goals, controlling expenses, and optimizing merchandise presentation. Furthermore, the role involves ensuring the success of the Academy training environment, fostering a high-performance culture, and championing company values such as integrity, ethics, and customer-first service. The manager is expected to build high-performing teams, attract and retain talent, and drive continuous improvements.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree and 2 years general management experience, including financial accountability and 4 years’ experience supervising at least 50 nonexempt and at least 5 exempt associates/employees, including performance management, mentoring, hiring, and termination; OR 4 years general management experience, including financial accountability and 4 years’ experience supervising at least 50 nonexempt and at least 5 exempt associates/employees, including performance management, mentoring, hiring, and termination.
  • For facilities that sell firearms, successful completion of a firearms-specific Criminal Background Check (CBC) and Firearms Authorized Training.
  • For facilities that sell only ammunition and have state specific requirements, a current state issued Certificate of Eligibility may be required.
  • Successful completion of all job required trainings and assessments (for example, Academy trainings, Open Door trainings, etc.).

  • Bachelor of Science in Business Management and Leadership through Live Better U and Bellevue University
  • Experience as a Store Manager in a low complex store OR 1 year experience as a Store Manager in a medium complex store OR 2 years experience as a Store Manager in a high volume retail store
  • Running a fresh or dry grocery area

Responsibilities

  • Develops, communicates, and leverages a strategic vision aligned with company, market, and local plans and tactics to direct the management team and associates in facility operations, merchandising, and company direction.
  • Provides supervision and development opportunities for management and hourly associates, addressing issues such as high turnover, engagement, and recruiting challenges.
  • Upholds the company's Open Door Policy by meeting with associates, listening to concerns, researching issues, and providing resolution.
  • Ensures compliance with company policies and procedures, navigating challenging compliance requirements, maintaining relationships with federal, state, and local officials, and monitoring asset protection and safety controls.
  • Initiates, directs, and participates in community outreach programs, encouraging associates and managers in community service, and representing the company.
  • Drives the financial performance of the facility by ensuring sales and profit goals are achieved, controlling expenses, and developing and implementing plans to correct any deficiencies.
  • Models, enforces, and provides direction and guidance on proper customer service approaches and techniques to ensure customer needs, complaints, and issues are successfully resolved.
  • Drives sales in the facility by ensuring effective merchandise presentation, accurate and competitive pricing, proper signing, and in-stock and inventory levels.
  • Ensures the success of the Academy training environment and store standards, creating an engaging environment, integrating Academy associates, and serving as a visible operations champion.
  • Provides overall direction by analyzing business objectives and customer needs, developing and implementing business strategies, and evaluating operational processes.
  • Develops and implements strategies to attract and maintain a highly skilled and engaged workforce.
  • Cultivates an environment where associates respect and adhere to company standards of integrity and ethics.
  • Develops and leverages internal and external partnerships and networks to maximize the achievement of business goals.
