About The Position

The Retail Manager will support the store sales and lead retail employees continually by evaluating and improving the performance of others; constantly striving to improve store processes and performing tasks of subordinates as needed to ensure store goals are met and exceeded. The position involves opening and closing the facility, maintaining a clean and organized store, and providing excellent customer service. The Retail Manager will lead by example, display goal-minded leadership skills, manage store processes, assist in budget preparation, and ensure compliance with operating systems. The role also includes training new employees, preparing schedules, and promoting Goodwill in the community through events.

Requirements

  • Must have High School Diploma or GED; Bachelor's Degree in Business-related field preferred.
  • Must have Management/Supervisory/Team Leadership skills and experience.
  • Retail and/or light manufacturing experience is a plus.
  • Must be able to manage long periods of standing, recurring bending/crouching/reaching/stooping.
  • Ability to lift 30 lbs; occasionally lifting up to 50 lbs.
  • Must have the ability to work a rotating schedule, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
  • Must be open to occasional driving (personal car) to other retail locations.
  • Must have valid driver's license and insurance.
  • Must have reliable transportation to and from work.
  • Must have or be able to become certified in First Aid and CPR.
  • Must follow all safety and security procedures.

Responsibilities

  • Opens & closes the facility (key holder).
  • Maintains a clean, neat, and well-organized store.
  • Provides great customer service interaction with donors and customers.
  • Displays 'lead by example' skills and reflects adherence to the values of Goodwill.
  • Displays goal-minded leadership skills by reaching goals based on review of sales and processing numbers.
  • Ensures expenses are maintained within budget guidelines.
  • Manages store processes and/or assigns employee tasks based on sales.
  • Assists in annual budget preparation and achieves financial objectives.
  • Assures stock and sales are handled in accordance with the operating system.
  • Possesses and displays good judgement when selecting the best-fit individual for open positions.
  • Prepares reports/paperwork in a quality and accurate manner.
  • Attends required meetings.
  • Interviews and trains new employees based on operational needs.
  • Trains employees through communications on job tasks with clear feedback.
  • Prepares store schedules and assigns employees to appropriate departments.
  • Unloads donated items from donor vehicles and moves them in the store.
  • Inspects items for hard good processing.
  • Sizes and tags textile items using a barbing gun.
  • Ensures the store stays clean, organized, and well-stocked.
  • Maintains knowledge of recalled and unacceptable products.
  • Promotes Goodwill in the community by coordinating store events.
  • Develops and maintains customer relationships.
  • Researches and resolves elevated customer concerns and complaints.
  • Monitors customers and employees for suspicious behavior.
  • Prepares, completes, and deposits daily cash deposits/reconciliations.
  • Plans, communicates, and schedules delivery of tools and products.
  • Pulls items from sales floor for recycling or trash.
  • Schedules pick-ups for recyclable and trash items.
  • Schedules delivery of required services and materials.
  • Displays the importance of tasks assigned and order of importance.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
