About The Position

The Store Manager In Training (SMIT) job at CVS Health is a development-focused role designed to prepare individuals for a CVS Store Manager position. The SMIT program aims to enhance the career of future store leaders through a self-paced, collaborative training program spanning 16 weeks. This program incorporates both virtual and hands-on learning experiences to develop leadership skills. Support for growth is provided by a team including a District Leader, Human Resources Business Partner, Training Store Manager, and a Store Manager coach. SMITs are expected to actively engage with their leaders in Key Learning Experiences, support their store as a management team member, lead in a manner consistent with CVS values and policies, and engage colleagues in the company's purpose of "helping people on their path to better health." While selection for the SMIT position does not guarantee promotion, it is dependent on factors such as performance and the availability of openings. Candidates must be willing to accept promotion to a Store Manager role at any location within the designated market and be able to transfer to other CVS Pharmacy stores within that market. The role is full-time with anticipated weekly hours of 45.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or GED
  • Retail management experience, or experience as a CVS Supervisor
  • Willingness to accept a promotion to Store Manager role at any location in the designated market.
  • Ability to transfer to other CVS Pharmacy stores located within the designated market.
  • Ability to work a schedule that may vary based on business needs.

  • Bachelor's Degree (or a four year college degree)
  • Relevant work experience may be considered in lieu of a college degree.

Responsibilities

  • Communicate effectively verbally and in writing to support and lead the team.
  • Perform customer care duties to provide high levels of service.
  • Execute merchandising strategies to support store sales growth.
  • Manage store inventory and assets to maintain profitability.
  • Actively engage with leaders in Key Learning Experiences during the structured program.
  • Support the store as a management team member and lead in a manner consistent with CVS values and policies.
  • Engage colleagues in support of the company's purpose of "helping people on their path to better health."
