Requirements

  • High School education (minimum requirement), with college background helpful but not required.
  • 3 - 5 years experience in supermarket industry, of progressively more responsibility with successful participation in a management training program.
  • Working knowledge of all aspects of store management and operations.
  • Strong communication & management/leadership skills.
  • Merchandising techniques, strong decision making skills, conflict management.
  • Working knowledge of all store systems including POS, receiving, LMS, etc.

Responsibilities

  • Provide quality customer service in every position within Giant/Martin's Food Stores.
  • Responsible for the policies and procedures to ensure the highest standards of food safety and associate hygiene.
  • Develop Giant's 'brand' image by acting as a company representative both within store and within community.
  • Manage all financial metrics to budgeted targets including sales growth, margin targets, shrink targets, labor targets, expense targets, inventory on hand targets, and operating income targets.
  • Maintain and ensure the highest quality of perishable items to meet company standards of freshness and code dating.
  • Responsible for all department conditions in operations, both perishable and non-perishable.
  • Responsible for proper support of the weekly company Ad and all other merchandising programs.
  • Plan, organize, direct and control store activities utilizing delegation of duties to staff of assistants and department managers.
  • Responsible for maximum utilization of store personnel through effective scheduling, counseling and evaluating programs, training programs, motivation, and supervision.
  • Responsible for the staffing, training and development of all store personnel, both direct report and indirect report.
  • Maintain compliance to all wage and hour laws.
  • Manage a housekeeping program which ensures an orderly, clean store that is pleasing to the customer's eye.
