The General Manager at Petco plays a pivotal role in leading the vision of "Healthier Pets. Happier People. Better World." The GM leads a team of Pet Care Center managers, leaders, and partners, and is accountable for all aspects of managing a single Pet Care Center. This includes a strong focus on people, performance, and process, which ultimately drives overall profitability. The role requires a passion for pets, the ability to inspire and lead a team, a focus on process excellence, and a drive for results. In this role, the General Manager will regularly exercise discretion and independent judgment to create the best possible partner, guest, and pet experience. They will build a team that embodies the Petco brand by delivering exceptional service and driving guest loyalty. The GM will attract, hire, and retain a diverse team of top talent, train and develop leaders and hourly partners, and create a professional environment that inspires growth and engagement. They will ensure quick and courteous service to all Petco guests and manage partner performance effectively. The General Manager will also be responsible for meeting or exceeding goals related to sales, profitability, and operational excellence. This includes scheduling labor hours, reviewing financial reports, identifying underperforming metrics, and developing strategies to improve business performance. Additionally, the GM will ensure the proper health and welfare of all animals, maintain the Pet Care Center's appearance, and protect Petco's pets and merchandise by adhering to safety and operational standards.
