Requirements

  • Basic proficiency required in Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Email.
  • Maintain working knowledge of policies outlined in the Albertsons/Tom Thumb Employee Handbook.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain an atmosphere of enthusiastic customer awareness, emphasizing fast and friendly service.
  • Responsible for total store CSI (Customer Service Index) and communicating resolutions to customers.
  • Engage in suggestive selling and other sales techniques through phone interactions, in‑store announcements, and direct customer engagement.
  • Respond appropriately to incoming calls and resolve customer grievances.
  • Close the loop between customer and employee relations by addressing customer critiques of the store and/or employees.
  • Lead total store operations, implementing Company and Division merchandising, operational, and sales initiatives.
  • Drive sales, gross profit, and expense management across the store.
  • Plan daily operations and monitor production processes following company procedures.
  • Maintain positive community relations and communication with manufacturer reps, Store/Division/Corporate personnel, and vendors.
  • Monitor market conditions, trends, and competitor activity.
  • Communicate company goals, objectives, policies, and procedures to department managers and employees.
  • Ensure full compliance in all departments and set expectations accordingly.
  • Meet weekly with department heads to review ads, sales plans, and promotions.
  • Ensure an alternate leader conducts meetings if absent.
  • Maintain strong rapport with vendors and the Warehouse.
  • Use computer software and electronic ordering devices for product ordering.
  • Basic proficiency required in Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Email.
  • Implement and communicate company safety and health initiatives to associates.
  • Ensure compliance with all food safety, sanitation, health codes, and safety regulations.
  • Serve as the person solely responsible for food safety and sanitation across all departments.
  • Ensure employee compliance with Food Safety, Sanitation, HIPAA, COBC, Meat Grinding & Tracking Logs, Texas Workplace Benefits Plan Manager, Food Handler requirements, and other state/company mandates.
  • Maintain working knowledge of policies outlined in the Albertsons/Tom Thumb Employee Handbook.
  • Enforce proper code dating on all products.
  • Ensure compliance with division scheduling guidelines, wage/payroll policy, Time Clock Policy, benefits, grooming standards, dress code, child labor laws, and other employment laws.
  • Maintain accurate records consistent with legal and company retention requirements.
  • Review and approve department schedules before posting to ensure proper coverage.
  • Maintain strong store conditions, product quality, rotation, labeling, and code date compliance.
  • Conduct daily inspections of store conditions and coach employees accordingly.
  • Operate equipment such as pallet jacks, hand trucks, knives, safety cutters, and Sterilox machines.
  • Implement emergency procedures during equipment or software malfunctions.
  • Ensure proper product temperature levels and compliance with labeling laws and regulations.
  • Perform receiving duties including breaking down loads, verifying orders, inspecting quality, reporting shortages, stocking, rotating product, and following temperature/storage guidelines.
  • Oversee staffing, recruiting, hiring, training, and development of all store personnel.
  • Evaluate job performance and make decisions regarding promotions, terminations, and disciplinary action.
  • Consider input from Department Managers and Assistant Store Directors when making personnel decisions.
  • Conduct formal employee evaluations according to Division guidelines.
  • Identify training needs and ensure completion of development plans.
  • Resolve employee relations issues—including discrimination, harassment, off‑the‑clock work, and legal concerns—with HR support.
  • Build and maintain positive associate morale.
  • Maintain confidentiality of employee matters, store sales, and company information.
  • Provide clear, accurate direction to department managers, supervisors, and associates.
  • Ensure compliance with cash‑handling procedures, sales accounting, safe protocols, and asset protection.
  • Control shrink and maintain appropriate inventory levels in backroom and sales floor areas per Division guidelines.
  • Develop operating budgets and manage all in‑store operating, maintenance, expense, and supply costs.
  • Process or oversee completion of all required reports and administrative paperwork.
  • Understand P&L statements and all store‑related reports.
  • Prepare sales and inventory reports.
  • Conduct physical inventories every four weeks and ensure accurate counts of merchandise, supplies, and equipment.
  • Oversee reclamation processing and maintain organized backroom and department stock conditions.
  • Recommend equipment or building improvements to the District Manager.
  • Ensure merchandise is correctly priced, displayed, and shelves are clean and well‑maintained.
  • Perform all duties with honesty, accuracy, and integrity.
  • Treat all employees consistently and with courtesy, dignity, and respect.
  • Perform other duties as required.

  • Associates in this position may be eligible for a quarterly bonus, subject to Company bonus plans.
  • For roles in Washington State: Sick pay and PTO/Vacation pay are accrued based on hours worked and paid holidays are issued at 7-9 days annually.
