Requirements

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills with a professional demeanor.
  • Understanding of company policies and Grocery Department procedures.
  • Ability to lift, reach, bend, stoop, and maneuver objects up to ~50 lbs; operate pallet jacks and hand trucks.
  • Ability to stand for extended periods and perform repetitive arm movements.
  • Manual dexterity and good hand‑eye coordination required.
  • Mental alertness to ensure safe, accurate completion of tasks.
  • Basic math skills and knowledge of weights, measures, perishability, sanitation, labeling, and product handling.
  • Ability to operate telephones, ordering devices, knives, cutters, Sterilox machines, and cleaning equipment.
  • Proficiency with basic software (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, email).
  • Must be available for nights, weekends, holidays, and variable schedules; consistent attendance required.
  • Exposure to equipment‑related hazards is possible.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain an atmosphere of enthusiastic customer awareness with emphasis on fast, friendly service.
  • Responsible for total store CSI (Customer Service Index) and resolving customer concerns.
  • Engage in suggestive selling through phone, intercom announcements, and direct interactions.
  • Respond professionally to incoming calls and resolve customer grievances; ensure customer feedback loops are closed.
  • Oversee total store operations, ensuring execution of Company and Division merchandising, operational, and sales initiatives.
  • Drive sales performance, achieve gross profit targets, and manage store expenses.
  • Plan daily operations and monitor production processes in alignment with company procedures and profitability goals.
  • Communicate regularly with Operations Specialists to execute promotions and division programs.
  • Communicate company goals, objectives, policies, and procedures to department leaders and teams; ensure full compliance across all departments.
  • Conduct weekly meetings with department heads to review ads, sales plans, and promotional activities; ensure alternate leadership coverage during absences.
  • Maintain strong community relationships and effective communication with vendors, manufacturer representatives, and Corporate/Division teams.
  • Monitor market conditions, trends, and competitor activity.
  • Maintain professional vendor and warehouse relations.
  • Operate computer systems, electronic ordering devices, and basic software (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, email) to support store operations.
  • Ensure company safety and health initiatives are effectively implemented and communicated to employees.
  • Uphold strict food safety and sanitation standards across all departments.
  • Maintain full compliance with all food safety and regulatory requirements.
  • Ensure employees comply with HIPAA, COBC, Meat Grinding Logs, Tracking Logs, Workplace Benefits guidelines, and state/regional regulations.
  • Maintain working knowledge of all company policies as outlined in the Employee Handbook.
  • Ensure proper code dating and rotation of all products throughout the store.
  • Ensure compliance with scheduling guidelines, wage and payroll standards, timeclock policies, dress codes, grooming standards, and labor laws.
  • Maintain accurate legal and record‑retention compliant documentation.
  • Conduct daily inspections of store conditions and coach employees accordingly.
  • Use equipment safely, including pallet jacks, hand trucks, scissors, knives, safety cutters, and Sterilox machines.
  • Implement emergency procedures during equipment or software malfunctions.
  • Ensure proper temperature standards for all product categories and enforce compliance with federal, state, and company regulations.
  • Perform receiving duties including breaking down loads, verifying orders, checking quality, reporting shortages, stocking, rotating, and following all temperature and packaging standards.
  • Accountable for full‑store staffing, recruiting, hiring, and training.
  • Evaluate performance and make personnel decisions including promotions, terminations, and disciplinary actions.
  • Consider recommendations from Grocery/Drug Managers and Assistant Store Director regarding personnel decisions.
  • Conduct formal employee evaluations per Division guidelines.
  • Identify development needs for key associates and ensure completion of required training.
  • Address employee relations issues including discrimination, harassment, working off the clock, and legal violations with HR guidance.
  • Maintain confidentiality regarding employee information, store operations, and company data.
  • Provide clear direction to department managers, supervisors, and associates.
  • Ensure compliance with cash‑handling procedures, safe standards, sales accounting, and asset protection.
  • Control shrink; maintain inventory levels on the sales floor and in backroom areas per Division guidelines.
  • Develop and manage operational budgets, controlling maintenance, expense, and supply costs.
  • Process or oversee all administrative reporting, including P&L analysis and store performance reports.
  • Prepare sales and inventory reports; conduct physical inventory every four weeks.
  • Ensure accurate inventory of merchandise, equipment, and supplies; oversee inventories and audits.
  • Supervise reclamation processing; maintain clean and well‑stocked backroom and departments.
  • Recommend repairs or improvements to store equipment and facilities to the District Manager.
  • Ensure correct pricing, signage, and product display; maintain clean, organized shelves.
  • Perform all responsibilities with safety, accuracy, integrity, and the highest professional standards.
  • Treat employees fairly, consistently, and with courtesy, dignity, and respect.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
