About The Position

Duties and Responsibilities Leadership Maintains an atmosphere of enthusiastic customer awareness with a strong focus on fast, friendly Customer Service. Responsible for total store CSI and communicating resolutions to customers. Engages in suggestive selling and other sales techniques through phone, intercom announcements, and direct customer interaction. Responds to incoming calls, resolves customer grievances, and closes the loop between customer and employee relations. Holds primary responsibility for total store operations, implementing Company and Division merchandising, operating, and sales initiatives. Drives sales, achieves gross profit targets, and manages expenses. Plans daily operations, monitors production processes, and ensures compliance with procedures and profitability goals. Communicates with Operations Specialists to ensure successful execution of sales, promotions, and Division programs. Communicates Company goals, objectives, policies, and procedures to department managers and employees, ensuring compliance and setting total-store expectations. Conducts weekly meetings with department heads to review ads, sales plans, and promotions; assigns an alternate leader when absent. Builds positive community relations and maintains strong communication with vendors, warehouse staff, manufacturer representatives, and corporate personnel. Monitors market conditions and competitor activities. Maintains productive relationships with vendors and Warehouse personnel. Operates computer software and electronic ordering devices to order product. Requires basic knowledge of Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Email. Food Safety, Sanitation, Compliance & Policies Ensures Company safety and health initiatives are communicated and enforced in all work practices. Maintains full integrity regarding Food Safety and Sanitation; responsible for storewide compliance. Solely accountable for food safety and sanitation for all departments. Ensures all employees comply with Food Safety and Sanitation rules, HIPAA, COBC, Meat Grinding & Tracking Log, Texas Workplace Benefits Plan Manager requirements, Food Handlers Manager, and all applicable state and company compliance items. Possesses working knowledge of Company policies and guidelines outlined in the Albertsons/Tom Thumb Employee Handbook. Ensures proper code dating for all products in every department. Ensures compliance with Division scheduling, payroll, time clock policies, benefit plans, grooming and dress code standards, child labor laws, and other employment regulations. Maintains legally compliant and accurate records per retention guidelines. Reviews and approves department schedules in advance to ensure sufficient staffing. Ensures good store conditions, proper product rotation, labeling standards, and code-date accuracy. Conducts daily inspections and provides coaching. Uses equipment including pallet jacks, hand trucks, scissors, knives, safety cutters, and Sterilox machines. Implements emergency procedures for equipment or software malfunctions. Ensures correct product temperature levels and compliance with labeling laws, state and federal regulations, and Company policies. Follows all workplace safety rules and procedures. Performs receiving duties such as breaking down loads, verifying invoices, inspecting quality, reporting shortages, stocking, and rotating product. Human Resources Responsible for staffing, recruiting, hiring, and training for the entire store. Evaluates job performance and makes personnel decisions including promotions, terminations, and disciplinary actions. Considers recommendations from Grocery, Drug Managers, or Assistant Store Directors when applicable. Conducts formal performance evaluations and identifies training needs for employee development. Resolves employee relations issues—including discrimination, harassment, off‑the‑clock work, or violations of law—with guidance from Human Resources. Maintains confidentiality regarding employees, store sales, and Company information. Provides clear guidance and instruction to managers, supervisors, and associates. Ensures compliance with proper cash‑handling procedures, sales accounting, safe procedures, and asset protection standards. Financials Controls shrink and maintains inventory levels in the sales floor and backroom in accordance with Division guidelines. Develops operating budgets and controls all in‑store operating, maintenance, expense, and supply costs. Oversees completion of all required reports and administrative paperwork and fully understands the P&L and other store reports. Prepares sales and inventory reports. Conducts physical inventory every 4 weeks and ensures accurate counts of merchandise, supplies, and equipment. Supervises reclamation processing and maintains orderly conditions in the backroom and all departments. Recommends repair or improvement expenses for store equipment and building to the district manager. Ensures merchandise is correctly priced, displayed, stocked, rotated, and maintained. Performs all responsibilities safely, accurately, honestly, and consistently while treating all employees fairly and respectfully. Performs other related duties as required.

Requirements

  • Requires basic knowledge of Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Email.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills; maintains professionalism with customers and co‑workers.
  • Understands overall Company practices and Grocery Department procedures.
  • Able to frequently lift and maneuver objects up to 50 lbs; bends, stoops, pushes, and pulls heavy equipment.
  • Requires manual dexterity, eye‑hand coordination, and ability to stand for prolonged periods.
  • Requires mental alertness for accurate task completion, basic math skills, and knowledge of product standards, perishability, handling, sanitation, and labeling.
  • Operates telephones, pallet jacks, hand trucks, knives, scissors, safety cutters, Sterilox machines, and cleaning equipment.
  • Uses computer software and ordering devices with basic proficiency in Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Email.
  • May be required to work nights, weekends, holidays; strong attendance is required.
  • Potential exposure to hazards related to equipment and tools used in job duties.
