About The Position

The Store Associate plays a vital role in Store operations with a strong focus on creating a rewarding experience for customers, donors, and volunteers. Sales Associates effectively utilize the point of sales system, give excellent customer service, and insure volunteer engagement. They work alongside volunteers and other employees, answering donor/customer questions in regards to pricing, homeownership, volunteering, and current projects. WHO SHOULD APPLY You are an outgoing person who likes providing great customer service, working with a team and working to support the Habitat mission. You enjoy a fast-paced work environment and a wide verity of tasks during a typical work day. You like to be on your feet and moving around the majority of your time at work.

Requirements

  • Must be 18 years of age
  • Ability to accurately and safely operate store equipment such as computers, pallet jacks, etc
  • Strong relationship building skills with an ability work constructively with a variety of people
  • Able to read, count, write and communicate effectively ensuring correct completion of all documentation
  • Must be able to organize, plan and prioritize work to completion
  • Ability to pass a background and reference check
  • Commitment to the South Puget Sound Habitat mission and core values

Nice To Haves

  • Retail/ customer service experience
  • Experience with operating a POS system
  • Cash handling experience

Responsibilities

  • Customer Service (40%): Greet customers and donors, provide outstanding service, maintain a friendly environment, collaborate with team members, answer the telephone, explain store policy, and use radio communication.
  • Point of Sale (30%): Receive payment, assist loading customer purchases, and maintain a high level of cash management.
  • Pricing and Staging (15%): Intake donations, stock merchandise, assist in maintaining the back stock room, set up merchandise displays, and use the internet to research donated merchandise.
  • Volunteer Engagement (10%): Establish and maintain positive interpersonal relationships with volunteers.
  • Leadership, Teamwork, and Inclusivity (5%): Maintain a “team first” outlook, meet and endorse organization standards for record keeping and information sharing, contribute to organization events, and participate in intentional learning efforts.
