About The Position

The Salvation Army is seeking a part-time, hourly Store Associate to provide excellent customer service and meet sales requirements for their thrift stores. This role involves a variety of tasks under the supervision of the Store Manager and/or Supervisor. Key duties include receiving donations, sorting, hanging clothes, pricing, stocking the sales floor, arranging merchandise displays, operating the cash register, accurately handling money, processing credit cards, and assisting customers with purchased merchandise. The position requires strong communication skills with staff, volunteers, and customers, maintaining a clean and organized store, and adhering to company policies regarding uniform, cell phone, breaks, and smoking. The Salvation Army operates as a branch of the Christian Church, with a goal of spiritual regeneration, and is committed to being an equal opportunity employer.

Requirements

  • High School degree or equivalent
  • Detail oriented with strong organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Team player with a spirit of cooperation
  • Ability to work with all supervisors, staff, volunteers and customers towards achieving store goals set by management
  • Self-starter, ability to problem solve or seek assistance when needed
  • Strong use of the English language in verbal and written communication
  • Good organizational skills to support effective time management
  • Ability to work with the public in a professional manner that is courteous and respectful
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and maintain poise under pressure
  • Customer service mindset
  • Strong knowledge of cash controls and cashier procedures including credit card sales, vouchers
  • Ability to operate registers accurately with accountability
  • General knowledge of business protocols for safe, efficient operations
  • Ability and willingness to keep information confidential
  • Ability to understand and produce written information such as research and donation receipts
  • Must complete and adhere to Protecting the Mission requirements and guidelines
  • Ability to pass a TSA background check
