About The Position

Store Associates work independently or as part of a team in various retail areas of a commissary store within the Defense Commissary Agency (DeCA) system. They perform a variety of duties including handling, preparing, and stocking grocery and produce items, as well as checking out customer purchases. Specific assignments may vary based on individual store and management requirements.

Requirements

• Must be a U.S. citizen or national.
• Must meet minimum age requirement.
• One year of progressively responsible clerical, office, or other work experience.
• Two full years of successfully completed education above high school from an accredited institution.
• Ability to perform physical requirements including standing, stooping, kneeling, bending, climbing, and lifting items weighing up to 40 pounds.

Responsibilities

• Assisting customers by answering questions regarding item prices or locations and handling bulky/heavy items.
• Operating an electronic checkout system to record unit prices, total customer purchases, and make change.
• Performing a variety of duties in handling, preparing, and maintaining stock levels of grocery and produce items.
• Reviewing stock levels and gathering inventory data to maintain the Computer Assisted Ordering (CAO) system.
• Preparing and maintaining documents to order commissary items, reconcile invoices, and submit requisitions.
• Maintaining security, safety, and sanitation practices and procedures.
