MEANINGFUL WORK AND PERSONAL IMPACT As a Storage Technician, the work you’ll do at GDIT will be impactful to the mission of USCENTCOM. You will play a crucial role in configuration, maintenance, and troubleshooting of storage solutions that support enterprise-level infrastructure and ensure the high availability, performance, and security of data storage systems. This role will collaborate with other IT teams to design and implement scalable and reliable storage solutions, ensuring that USCENTCOM's critical data is protected and readily accessible

  • Configure, install, and maintain storage systems, including SAN (Storage Area Networks), NAS (Network Attached Storage), and hybrid storage solutions.
  • Monitor storage systems for performance, capacity, and availability to ensure optimal functionality and minimal downtime.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to storage hardware and software, ensuring rapid recovery and minimal disruption to services.
  • Manage storage provisioning, including the allocation of storage volumes and space management for various applications and systems.
  • Work closely with backup and disaster recovery teams to ensure data integrity, availability, and compliance with security policies.
  • Implement and monitor data replication, snapshot, and backup solutions to safeguard against data loss.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to plan, implement, and optimize storage solutions based on operational requirements.
  • Assist in the design and deployment of high-performance, scalable storage architectures for growing data demands.
  • Ensure storage systems comply with industry best practices, security policies, and regulatory requirements.
  • Perform regular maintenance, firmware updates, and patch management for storage hardware and software.
  • Maintain detailed documentation of storage configurations, workflows, and procedures for system administration, troubleshooting, and upgrades.
  • Provide support for storage-related incidents and work with other teams to restore service quickly and efficiently.
  • Assist with capacity planning, forecasting, and system upgrades to ensure storage systems meet growing data requirements.
  • Support ongoing data migration efforts and assist with the integration of new storage technologies and solutions.
  • Generate reports on storage utilization, performance, and capacity to provide insights into system health and operational efficiency.
  • Participate in projects to enhance data availability, reliability, and storage efficiency.
  • Collaborate with the security team to ensure that data storage meets compliance requirements and is secured against unauthorized access.
  • Provide training and technical support to other teams on storage-related technologies and best practices.
  • Stay up to date with the latest storage technologies and industry trends to ensure the most effective solutions are used.
  • Certification: Applicable DoD 8140 or DoD 8570 Certification.
  • Experience: 8+ years of related experience
  • Required Skills: Hands-on experience with SAN, NAS, and hybrid storage technologies.
  • Strong understanding of storage protocols such as iSCSI, Fibre Channel, and NFS.
  • Experience with storage management tools and software for provisioning, monitoring, and troubleshooting (e.g., NetApp ONTAP, EMC Unisphere).
  • Knowledge of backup, disaster recovery, and data replication technologies.
  • Proficiency in performing storage migrations and integrating new storage systems into existing infrastructure.
  • Familiarity with performance tuning, monitoring, and optimization of storage solutions.
  • Strong troubleshooting skills and the ability to resolve complex storage issues.
  • Excellent documentation skills for system configurations, procedures, and troubleshooting guides.
  • Security clearance level: TS/SCI clearance required.
  • US citizenship required
  • NetApp Certified Storage Installation Engineer (NCSIE)
  • EMC Proven Professional Certification
  • ITIL 4 Foundation Certification
  • Experience with USCENTCOM and familiarity with its mission and operations.
  • Knowledge of cloud storage solutions (e.g., AWS S3, Azure Blob Storage) and hybrid cloud environments.
  • Familiarity with storage automation and orchestration tools (e.g., Ansible, PowerShell).
  • Experience in large-scale data management and capacity planning.
  • Ability to work with vendors to evaluate, integrate, and support third-party storage technologies.
