Maxar Intelligence's Share IT is seeking an experienced Storage Engineer to support the development and integration of various intelligence. Our team is the multi-faceted IT team supporting Maxar products and environments. We are responsible for the cloud, private cloud, and on-prem systems. This is a hybrid role based in Westminster, CO, supporting mission-critical devices in our on-prem datacenters (Westminster and Longmont, CO), as well as remote data centers. with an average of three-days in office/datacenter per week and as needed.

  • Design, deploy, automate, and manage enterprise storage systems, ensuring high availability, redundancy, and disaster recovery capabilities across multiple data centers and physical sites, including SAN, NAS, and local object store.
  • Configure, monitor, and optimize storage solutions to meet performance, capacity, and scalability requirements while minimizing downtime and ensuring data integrity.
  • Perform regular infrastructure assessments, updates, and patches on storage systems to ensure optimal performance, security, and compliance with industry best practices and organizational standards.
  • Troubleshoot storage-related issues, including performance bottlenecks, connectivity issues, and data access problems, utilizing root cause analysis techniques.
  • Develop and maintain documentation related to storage architecture, procedures, and configurations, ensuring compliance with industry standards and organizational policies.
  • Evaluate and recommend new storage technologies and solutions to enhance system performance, efficiency, and scalability, keeping up to date with emerging trends and vendor offerings.
  • Support security initiatives to protect enterprise storage systems, ensuring compliance with applicable security policies, regulations, and best practices.
  • Perform regular maintenance activities to ensure the stability and security of storage platforms, including patching, standard changes, disk swaps, etc.
  • Continually monitor alerts and dashboards for performance and issues, acting accordingly to maintain reliability of storage platforms.
  • Participate in on-call rotation and provide tier-3 support for critical storage-related incidents.
  • Eight (5) years' experience in storage operations / storage engineering.
  • Bachelor of Science (BS) Degree from an accredited university in a technical field is required.
  • Five (5) additional years of experience in storage operations may be considered in lieu of degree.
  • Experience in overall IT infrastructure, storage engineering, storage systems, and systems architecture.
  • Minimum of 5 years’ related experience with IC and/or DoD systems.
  • Experience with full life cycle storage administration, architecture, and support including storage utilizations, capacity planning and adjusting storage requirements.
  • Deep understanding of protocols like iSCSI, NFS, SMB/CIFS, Fibre Channel, and object storage (S3, Swift).
  • Strong understanding of performance metrics (i.e., IOPS, Latency, throughput).
  • Experience in a high-performance environment including low latency database.
  • Knowledge in security and data encryption methods and practices.
  • Excellent troubleshooting skills and a methodical approach to problem-solving.
  • Strong communication skills and ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
  • Must be a U.S. citizen and be able to obtain U.S. Government security clearance.
  • Experience with working providing storage for virtual environments.
  • Knowledge of cloud storage services (Netapp StorageGrid AWS S3/EBS, Azure Blob Storage, Google Cloud Storage) and hybrid architectures.
  • Proficiency with RedHat and Windows administration.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of a broad range of technologies beyond storage, i.e.: virtualization, networking, data management/migration, security, and disaster recovery.
  • Strong background in automation.
  • Must meet DoD 8570 IAT Level II requirements including one of the following: Security+ CE, CND, SSCP, GSEC, GICSP, CySA+, or CCNA Security.
  • Top Secret SCI with a CI Polygraph.
