Peraton is seeking an experienced Sr. Systems Engineer (SE) who provides advanced subject matter expertise (SME) for systems hosted within CLASSIFIED networks. The SE is responsible for the overall architecture , integration, administration, and maintenance tasks on the blade computing system, and storage area network (SAN) infrastructure. Location: Falls Church, VA; the position is on-site due to the classified nature of the work What you will do… The SE is responsible for a variety of tasks which include system architecture, integration, solutions deployment, cybersecurity compliance for systems including the blade computing (HP C7000, Cisco UCS), and SAN infrastructure (NetApp). Performs routine maintenance activities (patches), administration and monitoring of systems operation, coordination of support requirements, planning for system upgrades, and troubleshooting of hardware components in enclave. Additionally, the SE works with the Cybersecurity team to ensure deployed systems are compliant with STIGs, SRGs, CCIs, etc., security control documentation is maintained, and systems are ready for risk assessment as part of the enclave’s system accreditation process; this involves regular monitoring and periodic scanning. This work includes but is not limited to : Principle engineer for blade compute environment, and storage infrastructure. Plans and executes platform upgrades and sustainment activities for NetApp, HP C7000, Cisco UCS, Brocade and Cisco Fibre Channel switches. Backup engineer for VMware virtualization solution or local area network switches (layer 2). Install, configure, maintain, administer customer systems, third party application servers, and system software and hardware within the Windows environment. Participate or lead troubleshooting and incident resolution of complex high severity incidents. Investigate and propose solutions that address customer needs to improve operation performance, reliability, and maintainability. Review, analyze and assess vendor's proposed changes/upgrades. Investigate impact of potential changes on the system architecture, conduct systematic assessment to optimize and enhance system performance. Coordinate system hardware and software testing that ensures transparent implementation and appropriate capacity. Provision and load PKI certificates on servers and other enclave devices. Develop documentation in support of security accreditation requirements. Accurately log/ticket, track, and resolve incidents using the ITSM system (i.e., ServiceNow). Provide accurate, timely, and professional resolution on all supported incidents and issues. Provide a high level of professionalism and customer service. Provide updates to management and project leadership of ongoing projects and high priority issues. Other duties as assigned.
