About The Position

The Custodian at Stonewall Elementary School is responsible for performing routine custodial activities to maintain the cleanliness and orderliness of the school facilities. This role involves ensuring that buildings, locker rooms, and adjacent grounds are kept in a secure and sanitary condition, while also participating in major cleaning projects and responding to emergency cleanups as needed.

Requirements

• High school diploma or G.E.D. Certificate.
• Basic knowledge of methods, materials, tools, and equipment used in custodial work.
• Ability to perform routine custodial activities and minor non-technical repairs.
• Ability to communicate effectively using speech, vision, and hearing.

Responsibilities

• Perform routine custodial activities at assigned school site or facility.
• Participate in major summer cleaning projects as assigned.
• Respond to emergency cleanups such as spills and maintain records of maintenance needs.
• Operate cleaning equipment such as vacuums, floor strippers, and scrubbers as assigned.
• Pack, unpack, load, receive, and store supplies and materials.
• Pick up and rake paper, trash, and debris around school grounds and in buildings.
• Order supplies according to established guidelines.
• Lock and unlock doors and gates as appropriate, maintaining security of assigned areas.
• Clean and disinfect drinking fountains, sinks, toilets, and other facilities as assigned.
• Report safety, sanitary, and fire hazards to appropriate authority.
