About The Position

Stoneham Public Schools seeks an innovative, student-centered, and community-oriented leader to serve as Principal of Stoneham High School. The Principal will build upon the momentum of a new facility and renewed community investment to foster academic excellence, inclusive practices, and a strong school culture.

Requirements

  • Master’s degree required; advanced degree preferred
  • Massachusetts licensure as a School Principal/Assistant Principal (9–12) required
  • Demonstrated experience in school leadership, preferably at the high school level
  • Strong background in instructional leadership and school improvement
  • Excellent communication, collaboration, and problem-solving skills

Responsibilities

  • Instructional Leadership
  • Lead the development and implementation of a rigorous, equitable, and engaging curriculum
  • Cultivate a shared vision that makes powerful, engaging teaching and learning the central focus of the school
  • Ensure that instructional practices in all settings reflect high expectations regarding content and quality of effort and work, engage all students, and are personalized to accommodate diverse learning styles, needs, interests and levels of readiness
  • Provide effective and timely supervision and evaluation in alignment with state regulations and contract provisions
  • Participate in system-wide curriculum development and work with faculty to improve and revise curricula on a continuing basis
  • Support high-quality instruction through a multi tier system of support and regular classroom observation, feedback, and professional development
  • Lead school improvement planning with alignment to district long-range planning and including accountability processes

  • Promote and maintain high standards for staff, students and community members in relation to the Mission Statement and Core Values of the school and district

  • Maintain a safe, efficient, and effective learning environment, using resources to implement appropriate curriculum, staffing, and scheduling
  • Implement a cohesive approach to recruitment, hiring, induction, development, and career growth that promotes high-quality and effective practice
  • Maximize systems to ensure optimal use of time for teaching, learning and collaboration
  • Enforce compliance with state and federal laws and mandates, school committee policies, collective bargaining agreements, and ethical guidelines
  • Develop and advocate for a budget that supports the district’s vision, mission, and goals
  • Allocate and manage expenditures consistent with district/school-level goals and available resources
  • Oversee daily school operations (arrival/dismissal, safety, supervision)
  • Ensure compliance with safety protocols and emergency procedures
  • Community Engagement
  • Serve as a visible and approachable leader within the Stoneham community
  • Communicate transparently and regularly with families and stakeholders
  • Build partnerships that enhance student opportunities, including college and career pathways
  • Promote the learning and growth of all students and the success of all staff through effective partnerships with families, community organizations, and other stakeholders that support the mission of the school and district
  • Ensure that all families are welcome members of the classroom and school community and can contribute to the classroom, school and community effectiveness
  • Collaborate with families to support student learning and development both at home and at school
  • Address family concerns in an equitable, effective and efficient manner
  • Produce public-facing communications, including newsletters, digital updates, to keep the wider community informed and engaged
  • Scheduling & Student Programming
  • Develop the master schedule to maximize instructional time and equity
  • Oversee student placement, graduation requirements, and credit tracking
  • Coordinate all standardized and local testing schedules, including, but not limited to MCAS, ASVAB, Access, MCAS-Alt, PSAT, AP, etc.
  • Facilitate and support the NEASC process toward a vision of a graduate aligned to the vision of the learner.
