Overview & Responsibilities To receive incoming and outgoing material, store, pack and lad material and equipment for shipment. Responsibilities Receives instructions from supervision. Observes all safety rules. Loads and unloads material inside and outside from trucks, wagons, identifies and checks material with transportation bill and makes out proper documentation. Secures purchase orders and drawings, makes out receiving report and notes acceptance, marks damaged material, and notifies shop supervisor. Receives and issues material from storage using computer generated data from production and service systems also including requisitions, bill of material requisitions and sales orders. Prepares material for storage and shipping. Includes cleaning, applying proper coatings and protection compounds as required by shipping specifications. Uses production stores data and service order data to reserve and store parts in put-up bins and reports shortages to Inventory Control. Determines type and size of container or skid to be used from measurements taken, makes sketches, considers product damageability and whether material is for domestic or foreign shipment. Selects or constructs proper container or skid using proper blocking and packing material. Seals container, weights and records required information on container. Affixes proper general order number and loads container into shipping vehicle using proper shipping methods and procedures. Operates jib hoist, pendant control cranes, overhead cranes, walking and riding work savers, riding fork truck and warehouser. Performs physical count and part number/ shop order identification of all material to be shipped to ensure proper quantities. Maintains good housekeeping. Obtains lumber and supplies as necessary and works anywhere in the plant as assigned by supervision. Follows Engineering changes to bill of material by disposing of old parts, checking for new parts, and reporting shortages. Seal-peel and tectyl coats parts as required. Prepares the mailing of emergency off-shift service shipments as required. Operates foam machine and various forms of packing as required. Performs coating and identification on service parts as required by customer and shipping specifications. Ensures that appropriate Material Safety Data Sheet is shipped with orders of liquids, powders and pastes ("x" parts) as specified by safety Department. Applies protective cover to finished units as required.
