About The Position

The Stockkeeper I position at the University of Michigan involves managing food items and supplies to ensure they are available for service. Requirements

  • Ability to move and transport items weighing up to 75 lbs.
  • Basic math skills: addition, subtraction, multiplication, division.
  • Experience with First In, First Out stocking systems preferred.
  • Experience in a fast-paced kitchen environment.
  • Good customer service skills for interaction with varied building residents.
  • Knowledge of methods and equipment used in receipt, storage, and distribution of stock.
  • Knowledge of methods and equipment used in kitchen cleaning.
  • Demonstrated communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Obtain palette jack operators certificate.
  • Reasonable knowledge of University policies and procedures.

Responsibilities

  • Use organizational skills to prioritize tasks and execute them in assigned work areas.
  • Organize daily activities based on the needs of the work area.
  • Complete assigned work to meet production and service standards utilizing prescribed procedures.
  • Understand and follow Health Code Regulations while maintaining proper food handling procedures.
  • Examine food and supplies received to assure quality, freshness, and appearance.
  • Maintain a clean and organized work environment, ensuring proper sanitation is maintained.
  • Communicate critical issues to appropriate staff members regarding production, inventory, sanitation, quality, and maintenance.
  • Operate and ensure that equipment utilized is operational and report mechanical issues to management.
  • Participate in training programs and meetings as necessary or requested.
  • Receive food and supplies, verify invoices and packing lists, and inspect delivered goods for damages and completeness.
  • Maintain stock levels in work areas and recommend reorder quantities or times for stock items.
  • Issue stock as needed and package stock and equipment for shipment.
  • Clean, assemble, disassemble, and distribute equipment and stock items.
  • Work in coolers and freezers for extended periods.

Benefits

  • Hourly rate of $20.56 - $21.19
  • Covered under the collective bargaining agreement with the AFSCME union, which includes terms regarding wages, benefits, and hours.
