The mission of Behavioral Treatment Services is to provide accessible, integrated, and inclusive behavioral health services supporting clients throughout the criminal justice system . Behavioral Treatment Services provides a continuum of specialized adult offender substance abuse and other treatment modalities. Being a part of the BTS team means being a part of the forefront of Colorado’s behavioral health and criminal justice programs and initiatives. Our goals are to provide a space toward client healing, reduce criminal recidivism, assist clients in working towards personal growth, and collaborate with the system and client to work towards mutually agreeable goals. BTS provides clinical services, court related services, and specialized programs for adults involved in the criminal justice system. BTS provides services at community corrections sites (including residential treatment programs), outpatient locations, jail based, and court liaison programs in 9 counties across Colorado. Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent certification, and 2 years customer service and/or security experience with demonstrated skills in effectively dealing with difficult situations
  • Computer skills – Basic ability to enter data, generate reports and create communications from variety of software programs and databases.
  • Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing
  • Ability to remain calm and deescalate stressful situations.
  • Knowledge of the cultural and socioeconomic characteristics and appropriate techniques and practices for the client population.
  • Ability to interact effectively as a team member and independently with Company staff, stakeholders, and with diverse client base.
  • Must pass background check and have ability to access state criminal databases.
  • Ability to walk about a multi-floor building quickly and frequently.
  • Ability to lift and move furnishings while conducting searches.
  • Ability to lift and carry items weighing up to 25 lbs.
  • Valid driver’s license
  • Must have current CPR/First Aid certification within 6 months of hire.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain confidentiality of client and company information.
  • Carry out all duties/responsibilities in accordance with Company values, policies and procedures, applicable laws and contractual obligations.
  • Educate clients on facility policies, rules and regulations and complete program orientation
  • In accordance with BTS and Intervention policy and procedures, ensure clients are adhering to facility rules and regulations
  • Support, educate and train clients and staff on appropriate safety and security procedures.
  • Communicate incidents, issues and other relevant information accurately and timely to appropriate staff through recording entries into computer system, department/facility log and/or personally as appropriate.
  • Review department/facility log and other communication systems at least once daily to keep informed of issues.
  • Conduct internal and external rounds throughout the facility to ensure safety and monitor compliance with policies.
  • Monitor facility and client population for improper conduct or unauthorized persons inside facility, investigate and take appropriate action.
  • Support and enforce behavioral guidelines/sanctions for acceptable and unacceptable behaviors.
  • Report client violations timely and appropriately.
  • Investigate violations as directed.
  • Respond to emergencies as appropriate.
  • Report any decisions or problems that occur to the Supervisor on duty or on call.
  • Establish and maintain a professional working relationship with clients and outside referral sources.
  • Prepare disciplinary and incident reports accurately, legibly and completely and according to standards prior to the end of shift.
  • Monitor clients’ movement in and out of the facility, ensure they all sign in/sign out appropriately as well as receive necessary services if they leave the facility.
  • Conduct phone and on-site monitoring of clients in the community per policy and procedure.
  • Document client room/bed assignment changes.
  • Monitor testing of clients through urinalysis and breathalyzer.
  • Perform pat searches, facility inspections and room searches to inspect for contraband and ensure clients are adhering to policies.
  • Monitor client medication by documenting medications, and storing and disbursing according to prescribed dosage and time frame.
  • Collect and secure property of escapees/terminated clients.
  • Transport clients in company van as instructed by manager.
  • Coordinate meals through sign-up process and supervise STIRT clients to, from, and while in the dining hall during mealtimes.
  • Escort clients to do laundry.
  • Assist clinical team with washing of blankets and sheets for clients.
  • Escort clients to the change machine in the building as needed.
  • Hand out snacks to clients from the unit storage room as needed.
  • Assist clients with basic phone calls as needed.
  • Retrieve and release property to authorized pick-up person.
  • Assign chores as required.
  • Complete all paperwork and documentation accurately and in a timely fashion.
  • Attend weekly STIRT team meetings and other required meetings as scheduled.
  • Attend required trainings and apply skills and knowledge.
  • Regular and predictable attendance, flexibility in schedule/shift changes.
  • Good steward of Company human, financial and capital resources.
  • Participate effectively as a team member through communication, cooperation, information sharing and problem solving.
  • Any other tasks or duties as assigned
