Tahoe Donner Association invites you to become a key player in our dedicated team as a Stewardship Coordinator. Location: Tahoe Donner Land Management Type: Hourly – Seasonal Overview: The Trails Stewardship Coordinator position is part of the Trails team working to manage Tahoe Donner Associations trails and open spaces. This position leads and/or participates in Trail Crew maintenance and construction projects. This position serves as the Defensible Space, Forestry and Trails Stewardship Program organizer. The Trails Stewardship Coordinator plans, coordinates, implements and hosts a variety of educational programs, volunteer days and tours as part of the Tahoe Donner Association’s Land Management Department Stewardship Program. This is a full-time seasonal position, with no more than 780 hours per season or 1550 hours per year.

Requirements

  • Requires possession of valid Class C Driver License with a driving record meeting the minimum standards required by the Association insurance carrier.
  • Strong background in environmental, outdoor and experiential education.
  • Experience working with and teaching kids and adults in an outdoor setting.
  • Experience working on trails and using specialized trail hand tools.
  • Building and maintaining single track trails.
  • Must have a passion for hiking, biking, trail running, and experience around horses.
  • Knowledgeable in proper protective equipment (PPE) and ensure participant use during stewardship events.
  • Lead safety meetings and report as necessary.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Proficiency with software, especially excel, Microsoft, word, Sign Up Genius.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Flexibility to work evenings and/or weekends as needed.
  • Must be willing to work holidays and busy periods.
  • Must be willing to participate in member engagement and be comfortable with public speaking.
  • Knowledge in Forestry, Fire Prevention and Trails, or have a desire to learn and teach others on these topics.
  • First Aid/CPR/AED Certificate or willing to attain certifications.
  • Ability to lift 25lbs, kneel, bend, hike on uneven terrain, work in inclement weather, and stand for long periods of time.
  • These skills and abilities are typically acquired through the completion of bachelor’s degree or equivalent and twelve (12) months’ relevant experience plus six (6) months’ supervisory experience; or an equivalent combination of formal training, education and experience which demonstrates the ability to perform all of the duties of the position.

Nice To Haves

  • Class C Commercial Driver’s License with Passenger Endorsement is desired.

Responsibilities

  • Provide excellent customer service to members, guests, business partners and employees.
  • Ensures all staff meet or exceed the highest level of guest service in the performance of their duties.
  • Serves as the main point of contact for stewardship and tour events.
  • Engages in member outreach.
  • Creates and manages email lists for stewardship recruiting.
  • Recruits, trains and leads volunteers for stewardship activities.
  • Updates sign-ups, responds to questions and sends thank-you correspondence.
  • Manages schedules, vehicle/driver logistics, and resources for educational activities or events with members.
  • Leads youth programs for trail maintenance and/or trail construction projects.
  • Assists in trail construction and maintenance projects.
  • Leads trail maintenance crew in the absence of Trails Manager and Field Supervisor.
  • Assist with the design and construction of sustainable trails
  • Completes all work safely and efficiently, adhering to federal, state, local and Association safety policies and protocols.
  • Adheres to OSHA regulations, state and federal regulations pertaining to the tools and equipment used in project work.
  • Ensures self and associate crewmembers utilize all required PPE for each task at hand.
  • Communicate and coordinate events with Defensible Space, Forestry and Trail Departments.
  • Must attend and participate in all events. Prep/Lead/Clean Up.
