About The Position

Fairmont Dallas, located in the Arts District of downtown Dallas, offers 545 elegant guestrooms and suites, with over 73,000 square feet of flexible meeting space. For over 50 years, Fairmont Dallas has been the setting for countless civic, social cultural, convention and corporate events, setting the stage for countless memories. The Stewarding Attendant / Dishwasher is responsible for washing and sanitizing pots, pans, and other kitchen utensils/equipment according to hotel specifications and standards. This role includes cleaning and maintaining equipment in various kitchen areas, setting up wares for banquet functions, and assisting the kitchen with plating up banquet meals.

Requirements

  • High school graduate or equivalent vocational training.
  • Previous experience as hotel/restaurant dishwasher or in janitorial/cleaning position.
  • Familiarity with proper sanitation regulations.
  • Certification in sanitation.
  • Knowledge of proper chemical handling.
  • Fluency in a second language, preferably Spanish.
  • Some English, both verbal and non-verbal, preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Wash and sanitize pots, pans and other kitchen utensils/equipment according to hotel specifications and standards.
  • Clean and maintain equipment in dishwashing, pot washing, kitchen, cafeteria, compactor, and storage areas.
  • Set up wares for banquet functions, retrieve and wash soiled wares, transport supplies and food to banquet service areas.
  • Maintain complete knowledge of and comply with all departmental policies/service procedures/standards.
  • Anticipate guests' needs, respond promptly and acknowledge all guests.
  • Maintain positive guest relations at all times.
  • Resolve guest complaints, ensuring guest satisfaction.
  • Monitor and maintain cleanliness, sanitation, and organization of assigned work areas.
  • Use correct cleaning chemicals for designated items, according to OSHA regulations and hotel requirements.
  • Check the working condition of equipment and machinery in accordance with specifications; rectify any deficiencies.
  • Wash and sanitize soiled wares and allow them to air dry.
  • Sort, stack and store cleaned wares in designated areas.
  • Change pot wash water/chemicals as needed.
  • Operate dishwashing machine and wash wares as assigned.
  • Stock kitchen lines with designated cleaned wares, utensils, and equipment.
