About The Position

The Lakefront, Anchorage hotel (formerly the Millennium Hotel) is recruiting for a full-time Steward to join their team. The hotel, situated on the shores of scenic Lake Spenard, is one mile from Anchorage International Airport and four miles from downtown Anchorage, offering 248 rooms and three food and beverage outlets. The Steward's primary role is to promptly and carefully sort soiled ware for proper processing through the dish or pot machine, quickly wash all ware, and replace it in designated storage areas. This position requires significant physical strength and stamina due to its high activity level.

Requirements

Ability to push/pull service carts fully loaded with soiled ware.
Ability to read the English language so as to fully comprehend job requests, caution notices and similar written materials.
Ability to grasp, lift and/or carry or otherwise move or push goods on a hand cart/truck weighing a maximum of 50 lbs.
The ability to change tasks frequently and easily is required.
Patience, tact and diplomacy.
Must have a valid food handlers’ card.

Nice To Haves

Previous stewarding (Dishwashing & kitchen cleaning) experience.
Prior hospitality experience.

Responsibilities

Keep dish machine properly cleaned and filled with water per hotel standards.
Polish silver for proper appearance after cleaning.
Check station before, during and after shift for proper set-up and cleanliness.
Clean kettles, tilt skillets, pots and pans promptly and completely so cooks can carry out their work.
Empty all trash in service areas at predetermined times and upon request from the manager.
Perform general/routine cleaning tasks using standard hotel cleaning products as assigned by supervisor to adhere to health standards.
Clean and dry floors to avoid slip/fall accidents.
Separate linen from other debris.
Perform other duties as requested, such as moving supplies and equipment, cleaning up spills, etc.
Work as a productive team member by contributing positive energy.
Perform the duties of the position in a safe manner.
Be professional in all interactions with associates.
