The Steward is responsible for cleaning and storing all flatware, silver, glass, kitchen trays, pots, pans according to the direction of the restaurant management team. The Steward also assists in food preparation as requested. This position reports to the Executive Steward.

Requirements

  • Great Knowledge of company policies and procedures
  • Familiarity with company rules, regulations, and operational standards
  • Basic industry terminology
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and manage time effectively
  • Ability to do basic problem-solving
  • Ability to identify straightforward issues and propose simple solutions
  • Ability to follow oral or written directions in basic English

  • Ability to quickly adapt to changes in processes, customer flow, environments, and tasks with great attention to detail
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
  • Ability to work nights, weekends, and holidays

Nice To Haves

  • High School diploma or equivalent
  • Prior work experience in a commercial kitchen
  • ServSafe or similar food safety course certification

Responsibilities

  • Clean and stack all dishes properly
  • Store dishes and silver in the designated locations
  • Set up cleaning area: put dish machine together properly, fill all water tanks, turn on the heating elements in the dishwasher
  • Maintain a clean and sanitary work environment, participate in pre and post shift cleaning and organization to include, but not limited to: kitchen equipment, walk-in fridge/freezer storage, dry storage, trash, recycle, mopping, sweeping
  • Assist with the storage of food deliveries
  • Clean kitchen walls, floors, loading docks, and other associated areas at the proper time
  • Disassemble, clean, and reassemble the dishwasher before the end of the shift
  • Post appropriate caution signs when the floor is wet or being mopped to ensure the highest level of safety
  • Maintain kitchen work areas, equipment, and utensils in a clean, orderly condition
  • Assist with preparing food items according to the chef's specifications
  • Follow the daily preparation list to ensure items are ready for service
  • Report any problems with food product, kitchen equipment, or work area to the Executive Steward
  • Other duties as assigned
