The Steward / Dishwasher position involves performing dishwashing and kitchen cleaning functions to maintain a clean and orderly kitchen environment. The role includes washing dishes, glassware, flatware, pots, and pans, as well as operating dishwashing and other kitchen cleaning equipment. Responsibilities also include placing clean dishes, utensils, or cooking equipment in storage areas, maintaining kitchen work areas, and stocking supplies in serving stations, cupboards, refrigerators, or salad bars. Additional tasks involve sweeping and washing floors, cleaning trash cans, sorting and removing trash, and performing food preparation functions during staffing shortages or peak periods. The steward is expected to be aware of guest satisfaction scores and work towards increasing departmental and overall guest satisfaction while practicing safe work habits and following MSDS and OSHA standards. Other duties may be assigned by management.
