About The Position

To be a successful Sterile Processing Technician, you should be meticulous with strong attention to detail. You should have a good working knowledge of a variety of sterilization techniques and be able to work with fragile instruments. You should be familiar with A.A.M.I. Guidelines, and able to comply with ACHC regulations.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or equivalent required

Nice To Haves

  • Certification in Sterile Processing and Distribution preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Collecting used and contaminated equipment and instruments for sorting and decontamination.
  • Manually cleaning instruments of contaminants, removing waste matter, and operating and troubleshooting decontamination equipment.
  • Monitoring and operating sterilization equipment.
  • Examining instruments meticulously to ensure they are properly cleaned and sanitized.
  • Testing for integrity via biologicals, chemical indicators, and minimum heat exposure.
  • Sterilizing, preparing, wrapping, and organizing equipment into instrument trays for use during medical procedures.
  • Maintaining records of sterilization procedures, sterilized items, equipment maintenance, and supplies.
  • Controlling the inventory, reordering supplies, and checking expiration dates.
  • Safe use of chemicals used to decontaminate and sterilize surgical instruments following OSHA Guidelines.
  • Attendance: works as scheduled and is compliant with Attendance and Tardiness Policy
  • Performs all other duties as assigned.
