Sterilization Technician/Dental Assistant I

About The Position

The Sterilization Technician supports the dental team and contributes to high-quality patient care in a community-focused setting by maintaining a safe and clean environment for patients and staff by sterilizing and disinfecting dental instruments and equipment as well as ensuring clinical areas meet infection control standards. The Technician will provide direct support to the clinical staff in a public health setting.

Requirements

High school diploma or equivalent
Completion of a dental assisting program or dental experience required
Current CPR certification

Nice To Haves

Fluency in Spanish and English preferred
NC Dental Radiology certification preferred
NC S.P.I.C.E certification preferred
Knowledge of dental specific CDC and OSHA guidelines
Must have basic computer word processing skills

Responsibilities

Operate and maintain sterilization equipment, including autoclaves, ultrasonic cleaners, and instrument washers
Disinfect and sterilize instruments, surfaces, and equipment in compliance with CDC, OSHA, and agency guidelines
Maintain instruments and equipment within operatories and report any shortage of supplies, malfunction or safety concerns
Accurate and efficient patient record keeping
Perform Dental Assistant I procedures as appropriate to clinical protocol and according to regulations of the NC Board of Dentistry
