About The Position

Start your healthcare career with a hands-on, paid training program in our Sterilization Processing Department (SPD). Learn the skills needed to support surgical and clinical services while earning SPD Technician certification (CRCST). This position is responsible for ensuring all surgical supplies, instruments, scopes, and equipment are properly inventoried, decontaminated, assembled, inspected, packaged, sterilized, stored, distributed, and tracked in a safe, high-quality, and timely manner throughout the hospital and supported offsite clinics. After completing training, the employee will be able to perform all SPD standard work. Additional related duties may be assigned as needed. During the 13-week training program, you will gain hands-on experience with: Instrument identification Decontamination and cleaning procedures Sterilization processes Equipment operation Safety protocols and PPE use Hands-on training includes transporting instruments, removing bio-burden (blood, bone, tissue), operating washers and sterilizers, inspecting and assembling instrument sets, and preparing trays for sterilization. Full head-to-toe PPE is required in decontamination areas. Certification for the SPD Technician role (CRCST) is included as part of this program and must be earned within 12 months after completing the 13-week course and required hands-on hours. Many individuals build long-term careers as SPD Technicians, and for those seeking additional opportunities, career ladders exist to advance within SPD as an Instrument Coordinator, Team Leader, or Manager, or into Scrub Tech positions in the Operating Room. We are forming a small training cohort, projected to start this Spring. Final details will be confirmed in the coming weeks. This is a full-time position. Full-time day shift availability is required for the 13-week training program. After training, full-time positions are available on: Days: 7:00 AM to 3:30 PM Evenings: 3:00 PM to 11:30 PM (current greatest need) Nights: 11:00 PM to 7:30 AM All shifts include rotating weekends. Day shift team members park off-site and use the employee shuttle; evening, night, and weekend shifts have garage parking during scheduled hours.

  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
  • Ability to wear full PPE in decontamination areas
