About the position

The Sterilization Center of Excellence Manager is responsible for execution of Corning Life Sciences sterilization strategy including management of all internal and external sterilization network assets. Driving strategy of being 80% internally sterilized with redundant sterilization lanes, in case of emergency, along with driving execution of future 3rd party processing. Critical KPIs responsible for are turn times, inventory, cost / cubic ft, and right the first time. To be successful will need to closely manage (own) all 3rd party processing contracts along with critical vendor supply and service contracts. The individual in this role will also be responsible for CLS division laboratory services and initiatives to bring more testing internal to support 3rd party sterilization processing. It is critical that individual in this role has strong communication skills to work across multiple functional groups, locations, and vendors along with cultivating collaborative work to ensure CLS division needs are met.

Responsibilities

  • Drive sterilization from cost center to business advantage / revenue generator through capitalizing on open internal capacity with 3rd party processing.
  • Conduct market research to identify key customer targets and understand their needs.
  • Build a clear business plan encompassing all aspects of offerings to ensure strong profitability and long-term sustainability.
  • Create a clear and concise sales pitch for Corning.
  • Engage current CLS customers and find new ones to drive increased sales.
  • Enable increased laboratory offerings and system enhancement for both internal cost reduction and full-service offerings tied to 3rd party sterilization processing.
  • Own critical KPIs of turn time, inventory, right the first time, and unit cost.
  • Drive for process optimization and streamline operations post manufacturing for quickest and cheapest sterilization and release of product.
  • Work with Global Supply Chain and Finance to manage product flow post sterilization and ensure tight cost management.
  • Ensure asset security is maintained and safety systems and people are continuously monitored.
  • Act as a Subject Matter Expert (SME) for services and processes in relation to sterilization and laboratory services.
  • Manage all capital requirements ensuring correct budgeting and execution.
  • Communicate robust plans for all scheduled equipment downtime to ensure no impact to product flow.
  • Execute to CLS division strategy of 80% internal sterilization processing with redundant processing options.
  • Align strategies for internalization with manufacturing plants, supply chain, and quality organizations.
  • Manage vendor relationships and ensure needs are met from capacity and uptime.
  • Develop a cost reduction portfolio that can deliver 5% YoY cost improvements for sterilization network.
  • Work closely with CLS Logistics network on transportation optimization.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Manufacturing, Engineering, or Life Sciences related field.
  • Experience in the Life Sciences industry.
  • Experience as a Plant Operations or Engineering Manager is a plus.
  • Experience working in a matrix environment with remote reporting/working relationships.
  • Experience working with external vendors as well as business operations, supply chain, manufacturing, and procurement functions.
