About The Position

The Sterilization Associate position at Zimmer Biomet is focused on performing sterility assurance functions, primarily aimed at developing, validating, and monitoring product sterilization processes in compliance with industry standards. This role supports new product development, manufacturing operations, and sterilization of implants and instruments, contributing to the overall mission of enhancing patient mobility through innovative medical technologies.

Requirements

  • B.S. in Microbiology, Biology, Medical Technology, Engineering or other related field.
  • 0-3 years of relevant industry experience.
  • Introductory knowledge of microbiology and industrial sterilization technologies.
  • Basic knowledge of chemistry, math, and statistics.
  • Basic knowledge of and ability to use industry standards for medical device manufacturing and industrial sterilization.
  • Ability to plan, organize, and prioritize workload independently.
  • Ability to operate complex instrumentation.
  • Analytical problem-solving skills with strong attention to detail.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.

Responsibilities

  • Review routine sterilization records and perform sterility release for sterile implants.
  • Assist in the review and classification of new and modified products.
  • Assist in the execution of validation and process improvement projects.
  • Execute special projects in the Environmental/Microbiology Services Laboratories.
  • Represent the Sterilization Technology Department on cross-functional teams to address manufacturing issues, cleanroom issues, new product development, and nonconforming product investigations.
  • Educate department personnel, manufacturing personnel, and development personnel on concepts in instrument reprocessing and industrial sterilization.
  • Assist with and/or prepare departmental documentation for review and approval, including Zimmer Work Instructions, test protocols, validation documents, and technical reports.
  • Provide technical guidance to internal and external customers on issues related to microbiology, clean room technology, instrument reprocessing, and industrial sterilization.
  • Represent Zimmer as an alternate on AAMI Standards Committees.
