About The Position

The essential functions of this position include, but are not limited to; performing cleaning and sterilizing duties of supplies and equipment and prepares them for use by the Hospital staff. Prepares case cart system for the Operating Room. Other functions that may be assigned.

Requirements

• High School Diploma or GED.
• SPD certification within two years of hire date or transfer to position.
• Good written and verbal communication skills.
• Interpersonal skills needed to communicate successfully with individuals and groups.

Nice To Haves

• Knowledge of medical terminology preferred.

Responsibilities

• Pulls OR cases following requisitions form.
• Delivers carts to OR in timely manner.
• Restocks OB case carts.
• Delivers sterilized supplies to nursing units.
• Restocks monitor cart in ICU.
• Empties soiled OR and OB case carts in timely manner.
• Disposes of linen and trash in proper receptacles.
• Decontaminates instruments according to established procedures.
• Decontaminates case carts via the steam room according to established procedures.
• Cleans and refurbishes equipment according to established procedures.
• Performs quality assurance tests of sterilizers.
• Performs and charts Bowie Dick Test on vacuum steam sterilizers.
• Performs and charts biological tests on OR gravity sterilizers.
• Performs and charts biological tests on vacuum steam sterilizers.
• Performs diagnostic test and records results in Steris sterilizers.
