Receive, unload, sort, inspect, wash and process instruments and equipment for decontamination both manually and by automated means. Fill Operating Room case cart requisitions for scheduled next day cases, add-on cases and STAT cases with instruments, linen, stainless steel items, soft good supplies, etc. Wrap and label stainless steel items. Utilize the SPM Surgical Instrument Management tracking system to track instruments and case carts, provide information on instrument set assembly, etc. Inventory and restock reprocessed sterile items in sterile storage areas. Operate and perform daily maintenance of washer-disinfectors, cart washer and cart elevators. Process all surgical case carts through the cart washer after each use, process case carts as specified and return all carts to designated areas. Unload washer-disinfector racks of decontaminated instruments and stainless steel items and place in designated areas. Issue reprocessed sterile items as needed. Retrieve used surgical case carts as needed. Maintain assigned work area in a clean and organized manner following written departmental housekeeping policy. Receive, unload, sort, inspect, wash and process instruments and equipment for decontamination both manually and by automated means. Answer telephone calls as appropriate. Performs other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • High School or GED required.
  • Must commit to enroll in a Sterile Processing Technician Certification program.
  • Computer skills preferred.
  • Must have the ability to read, comprehend and follow simple verbal instructions.
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide, including decimals and fractions.
