About The Position

SSM Health – Saint Louis University Hospital is seeking a Sterile Processing Technician to join our day shift team, working 9:00 AM–5:30 PM, Monday through Friday, with a rotating weekend and holiday schedule. This role is essential to supporting safe, high‑quality patient care in a fast‑paced hospital environment. Prior Sterile Processing Technician experience is preferred but not required, and prior hospital experience is a plus. Under the direction of the Instrument Room Lead Technician, responsible for decontamination, cleaning, sorting, tray assembly and sterilization of instruments. Maintains knowledge of instruments functions. ABI variant: Under the direction of the Surgical Coordinator.

Requirements

• High school graduate or equivalent
• Must be able to tolerate prolonged, extensive, or considerable sitting, standing, and walking
• Must be able to carry equipment and supplies
• Must be able to read and write
• Must be able to communicate information in a manner appropriate for intended audiences
• Must have manual dexterity
• Must be able to lift 50 pounds and push/pull 100+ pounds
• Must be able to work independently and in groups, in a quiet or distractible environment, on a structured or unstructured task
• Must have good organization, planning, reasoning, judgment, problem solving, safety awareness skills, and cognitive flexibility
• Ability to operate and perform maintenance on a PC -based Instrument Tracking System (basic computer skills).

Nice To Haves

• Prior Sterile Processing Technician experience is preferred but not required, and prior hospital experience is a plus.
