As a Sterile Processing Technician, your exceptional sterilization and processing abilities provide staff with the equipment they need to perform safe and successful procedures. Job Title: Sterile Processing Technician Department: Materials Management Location: Rochester General Hospital Hours Per Week: 40 hours Schedule: 3:00pm-11:30p or 1pm-9:30pm, 1 weekend every 6 or 7 weeks ATTRIBUTES Qualifies through one of the following: Credentialed: Successfully passed a nationally accredited central service exam and holds and maintains one of the following credentials: Certified Registered Central Service Technician credential Certified Sterile Processing and Distribution Technician credential Hard to Fill Clause: A healthcare facility may employ or otherwise contract with a person who does not meet the requirements of the function of a Sterile Processing Technician if they are unable to employ or contract a sufficient number of qualified Sterile Processing Technicians Grand-fathering Clause: Must provide evidence of employment or contract services as a Central Service Technician in a healthcare facility for a cumulative period of one year, occurring between 1/1/2011 – 1/1/2015 Strong attention to detail with demonstrated interpersonal and communication skills RESPONSIBILITIES Processing. Responsible for processing and supplying sterile goods and equipment to all areas within the hospital, including decontamination, cleaning, packing, sterilizing, storing and distribution Sterilization. Ensure appropriate supplies are used in the process of sterilizing items; collect and clean soiled equipment, machines, carts and shelves Distribution. Transport needed supplies, medication and equipment throughout the hospital
