About The Position

We are seeking a detail-oriented Sterile Processing Technician (SPT) to support a busy surgical services department at a well-established healthcare facility in Hyannis, Massachusetts . This role is critical in ensuring patient safety by maintaining the highest standards of instrument decontamination, sterilization, and inventory management.

Requirements

  • Minimum 2 years of recent Sterile Processing experience
  • CRCST – Certified Registered Central Service Technician (HSPA)
  • BLS (AHA) certification
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to work in a fast-paced environment
  • Must reside 50+ miles from the facility to qualify as a travel candidate

Responsibilities

  • Decontamination
  • Identify and apply appropriate methods and solutions for decontaminating instruments and clinical equipment
  • Sort, disassemble, decontaminate, rinse, and disinfect instruments
  • Follow proper PPE guidelines at all times
  • Instrument Preparation
  • Assemble instrument sets accurately using count sheets
  • Inspect instruments for cleanliness and functionality
  • Properly wrap, containerize, peel-pack, and label instrumentation
  • Storage & Distribution
  • Store and handle sterile supplies and equipment correctly
  • Access and follow physician preference cards
  • Retrieve, distribute, and track surgical supplies in a timely manner
  • Sterilization Process
  • Select appropriate sterilization methods
  • Adhere to correct sterilization practices
  • Document and verify sterilization loads and biological testing results
  • Equipment Operation
  • Operate SPD equipment including steam, ETO, Sterrad, and Steris I sterilizers
  • Use cart washers, washer/disinfectors, ultrasonic cleaners, heat sealers, and testing devices
  • Inventory Control
  • Order, receive, stock, and monitor surgical supply usage
  • Communicate supply issues promptly to appropriate personnel
